Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is focused on making a 2015 showdown between Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. But another huge match for Canelo would come against his countryman, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Canelo and Chavez are currently two divisions apart. Chavez fights at 168-pounds and Canelo is a 154-pounder who may go to middleweight in the very near future. Although Chavez claims he can still make the middleweight limit of 160-pounds, there are very few who believe that he can.

I think they are putting this out there just in case Mayweather tries to steal Cotto away from Canelo. And in a way, it pushes Floyd toward having to do the Pacquiao fight because there is no other opponent really out there that will be able to push Canelo out of that Cinco de Mayo weekend spot other than maybe fighting Golovkin.

Canelo and Chavez will fight only if floyd ducks PAC again by fighting Cotto for the middleweight belt. I like the idea cuz I think Cotto would beat Floyd if he gets another chance.
