He lost a step but you really won't notice it much based on the level of competition available for him to fight, most of them are not good enough to "MAKE HIM LOOK HIS AGE" but no question he has lost a step or two. The Reflexes are still better than most but not a short or crisp as it use to be.

Maidana style is a bit awkward though because he is a bit WILD and very Powerful so it is hard to time him and just sit back and box him because he comes in a bit Wild but Relentlessly

Some of that could be Maidana's style but a lot it is Floyd's age and the years of fighting and sparring. It takes it's toll and Floyd has been very active the last two or three years.
      Definitely a mixture of both.

That's the reason why I thought Maidana would be one of Floyd's toughest fights (The first one).

The mixture of Floyd's decline combined with the fact Floyd hasn't fought a styles similar to Maidana's that will bring the fight the full 12 rounds since Hatton.

Also, to go back to your point about the years of fighting and sparring, I think the constant year + lay off's between 07-12 had a big effect on his aging.

I'll never forget when he had the year and a half lay off between Mosley and Ortiz and at the Ortiz press conference he looked like he'd aged years in the face.

I believe if Floyd fights Danny Garcia for example he'd shut him out and look very impressive. He won't have "Turned back the clock" he's just fighting a favourable style. A guy who's going try and box and doesn't have the tools to compete with Floyd.

Much like Canelo and Guererro, for example. And people thought "Floyd's at his best right now" which was a laughable notion.

Whereas someone like Amir Khan will make Floyd look VERY old.

        Styles make fights, obviously.
I think you are wrong about Khan. He will lay an egg like in every big fight. There's a difference between Malignaggi, Salita, MCloskey, Judah and...Floyd Mayweather. I think Khan is the best thing that can happen to Floyd. A fighter who can't punch, can't take a punch, and all he has is speed and drops down his hands throughout the fight? Floyd is drooling over a fight with Khan, he's just waiting for Khan to finally win the elusive career-advancing fight.

I mean Dan, the guy fought a close fight with Julio Diaz, in England. In his own hometown, known for many bad scorecards, they couldn't even find a way to give him one 116 scorecard. Not to mention Virgil Hunter is not the right trainer for his style, Roach is much better. If Virgil trains Khan for Mayweather, you will be disappointed in this "competitive fight" you're expecting.

The ability to pull the trigger. Fighters can see the opening, but when they aren't in their prime any longer, they can't pull the trigger in the necessary amount of time to land those shots. To me Floyd's ability to pull the trigger is still better than anyone in the sport, but compared to himself, it's not even close. For one Floyd jabs wayyyyy more than he ever used to.

Hatton is definitely better than Maidana.

Canelo and Cotto are better than those 3 but I think Castillo and Corrales are better than that version of Cotto. Canelo I guess is arguable.

Then I think that version of Oscar is better than that version of Shane.

Then I think Chavez is better than Guererro.

Judah is atleast as good as both Ortiz and Guererro.

            So, yeah.

Floyd clinches faster than any boxer i've seen in the last 15 years to be honest. No step lost.

Floyd jabs much more nowadays because of his father. His father is BIG on the usage of the jab, double jabs, triple jabs. He's all about the jab.

Three judges from the UK, in the UK, 114-113, 115-113, 115-112 against a shopworn, close to retirement Julio Diaz. But he's some how going to beat Floyd Mayweather? I don't see it. I need to see Khan beating any top 10 WW, Brook, Alexander, Guerrero, anybody in the top 10. Josesito Lopez just doesn't cut it.

I guess we'll have to wait and see on that one because I think it's going to happen.

And I guarantee that Khan will give today's Floyd many problems. Win? I don't know but he'll definitely trouble him.

Can't prove anything until it happens.

That's the main factor in him landing more though. Floyd would lead with the left hook or the right hand when he was younger.
