I used to want to see the fight, and it should've happened before Mayweather went to jail, but Arum killed that dream. At this point I don't think it's a big deal, especially after Marquez destroyed Manny. It's like a little younger version of "Grudge Match." I think if Mayweather wants a real challenge, then he should fight GGG @ 154.

Second he gets no immediate rematch from Bradley. Third he gets KO'd by Marquez, when there was no reason to fight Marquez in the first place. Last, he gets no immediate rematch from Marquez. This is what Floyd is trying to say. If Manny was his own boss like Oscar, Floyd, and Cotto, he might be doing a lot better, and probably not fighting an unknown like Chris Algeri.
As much as I think that fight last night was a fix for all practical purposes, I agree with this post. Mayweather has said that he has no intention of ever lining Arum's pockets and its not like Manny has the same status he once did.

Manny should have not signed with Arum. Arum and King are really bad for boxing, I can actually understand Floyd on this point. People often forget that guys like Floyd Andre Ward, etc get punched in the nose risk becoming irrelevant, and when succesful make a whole lot of other people succesful.

The IRS, the promoter... The fighter is beholden to these guys, one must ask: would you want to enrich the IRS (who do not share on your loss of income only there to take when you are succesful) and scummmbaggs like Arum? I know I wouldn't.

Sadly Manny is just not as relevant....Floyd is willing to not do this fight.

Friday's turn of events made that pretty clear. There have been previous negotiations and lots of rhetoric. At various times throughout this whole ordeal, I believe both sides have been to blame. But at this moment, the fault of a fight not being made falls squarely on the shoulders of Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, who, in my view, simply doesn't want to make the match at a moment when there seems to be no legitimate impediment.

It was just this week that Arum said he would go to the Philippines to meet with Pacquiao and present him with the names of four possible opponents for May or June: Miguel Cotto, Marquez, Lamont Peterson and Timothy Bradley Jr.
Arum figured Mayweather would be in jail and off the table. Now that Mayweather is available and seemingly would like to make the match, Arum suddenly isn't interested.

He used the lame excuse of the cut Pacquiao suffered against Marquez, saying he might not be ready for May. (I've never heard of a cut taking more than six months to heal.) However, earlier this week, when Arum thought Mayweather would be on ice behind bars, he said there was a good possibility Pacquiao would fight in May.Moments after Mayweather was granted the continuance, Arum changed his tune.

"We're fighting in June, one of the four guys," Arum told me over the phone.
I asked him, now that Mayweather was available, would he at least be part of the conversation when Arum meets with Pacquiao next week? A perturbed Arum's response was, "Absolutely not. Nope." Come again? You won't even talk about it with Pacquiao, I asked very politely.

"My mission is to go over to the Philippines and talk about these four guys," Arum said. "If Manny feels he wants to go in May, he will tell me. I want to make sure Manny's cuts are healed. We won't fall under this kind of pressure. June is much more likely for Manny's fight, not May." So May was a real possibility yesterday, but now there's no way?

"What if they fought and Manny started bleeding on the first punch?" a clearly flustered Arum said. "I don't know if Manny is available to fight in May. I have no idea. I haven't talked to him; I haven't seen him. Seems to me, June is more likely based on what his plastic surgeon said."

Earlier this week, Arum said he wasn't planning on Mayweather being available for a late-spring bout, and was going to discuss possible fights against Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Lamont Peterson or Miguel Cotto with Pacquiao.

            Now the discussion has changed.

"May 5 is out for us, it can't happen, because we want to explore the idea of getting a [temporary] stadium/arena up on the streets of Las Vegas that can seat 40,000," Arum said. "The end of May is a possibility."

Arum said he's intent to explore the idea of the larger outdoor venue because "having the fight in a 40,000-seat arena rather than a 16,000-seat arena seems like a no-brainer."

Additionally, Arum said Pacquiao is still healing from a deep cut over one of his eyes that he sustained in the Marquez fight.

"I don't know that he's on schedule to start sparring until the beginning of April," Arum said. "That's one of the things we'll discuss. If it is early April, we'll have to have the fight in late May."

I think i would want Arum in the negotiations. otherwise mayweather would take full advantage of pacquiao. With Arum in the picture, the playing field would be more even.

Floyd. I know you're a little ignorant and all. I mean you can't read and barely write. But you can speak. Hey... If you are you're own boss. Then just say you donor don't want to fight Manny Pacquiao. If you are not your own boss. Than tell your boss you wanna fight Manny.

                It's that simple.

Who is Manny's boss setting up for the next fight?

With most of the GB talent in a stage of limbo, as far as promotional contracts are concerned, Oscar is reaching across the aisle to see if the company can't put some big fights together to re-secure their place as top promotional brand in the sport. In particular, one of the match-up's Oscar would like to put together is Manny Pacquiao vs. Danny Garcia.

"We're going to talk about ending the Cold War between Golden Boy and Top Rank. My objective is to make the big fights," said De La Hoya. "Golden Boy has fighters that can fight Top Rank fighters and who can make great fights. We want to make great, exciting fights that the people want to see, and that's what I want to talk to Bob about."

"You could have Danny Garcia versus Manny Pacquiao. What a fight that would be. That's what I want to talk to Bob about. Danny Garcia versus Manny Pacquiao? Come on," said De La Hoya.

"You would have the young, strong bull versus the not-so-young strong bull in Manny. Those are the types of fights and matches that I want to talk to Bob and see what we can come up with."

Bob Arum has acknowledged De La Hoya's efforts and says he's open to working together to see if the sides cannot work out a marquee fight.

No because both Floyd and Arum will take full advantage of Manny. Like Oscar and Arum did when he signed with both.
