I really don't know why Cotto-Canelo can't happen in June for PR parade at the Garden.
Seeing as I was there live for Cotto-Margarito II, putting in Canelo in there, opposite Cotto, hell, Arum might have to build a stadium for that ish. I'm not a huge fan of the Cotto-Canelo fight, but I understand economics. That fight is a fight worth putting at the Mecca. Canelo has a long career ahead of him, he could, at an early age sell the most PPVs in history and help usher in the new Garden as he tries to take Cotto's crown. There will be no fighter for a long time that can sell out the Garden once Cotto leaves, Canelo would have an opportunity at helping selling it out, more than Martinez and Margarito.
normally floyd fights are more expensive than any other fight, but canelo-cotto is not any other fight and the MGM can make just as much money from that fight, fans will pay just as much for floyd-chino or canelo-cotto...
is a guaranteed sold out regardless of the prices... but again if oscar already booked that date i dont see the MGM making any decisions... and if they do they will have to consider floyd has 2 fight less, so forget the fighter they will have to choose between GBP or TMT and i suspect is GBP any day...
I agree both will sell out-but you are not charging same. Come on.
Just for perspective, Cotto/Sergio ringside at MSG was $750-(thats the same I paid for my ringside seat at Bhop/Tito 13 years ago). Canelo v lara-ringside seats were also $750
Ringside for Mayhem is $3,200 on stubhub right now.

they can charge the same for cotto-canelo and sell out mgm, and please dont bring sergio and try to make comparisons with canelo, different animals...
anyways is not the mgm who decides what fight goes on ppv that date, cotto-canelo can fight at thomas & mack same day, thats not a problem... but at the end of the day it will be GBP and Arum together along with HBO taking over that date regardless if the MGM makes a dumb move and tries to stick with TMT..

you think they can charge $3,200 for a ringside seat to cotto/canelo? are you insane?
I get your passion-but its just a matter of sheer economics. Floyd makes Las Vegas a ton of money, much more than Canelo does.
The town isn't just going to let one of its 2 biggest paydays just go away because GBP and Arum want the date. That would be the dumb move, right?

Stubhub is the secondary market. That $750 was the ticketmaster, initial price
I was on Stubhub trying to get ringsides for Cotto/Sergio is it was $1500 leading up to the fight. I think it's disingenuine (SP?) to mention stubhub prices

ok. that's fair. still $1,500 to $3,200. for a fixed number of seats (which we assume will all be sold) even if Cotto/canelo is at $2,000 that's a lot of money lost.
If that percentage is consistent for all tiers that means MGM's live gate is roughly 40% of what it would be (assuming Floyd/khan is at same pricing structure-what if it's slightly more).

when floyd fought canelo most of the fans were there for canelo and they paid a lot for that, just to let you know the last fifa world cup at brazil had over 30k mexicans there for 2 weeks, do you have any idea of how much does that cost?? really much more than $3200.. of course mexicans will sell out mgm for cotto-canelo regardless of the price...

To be honest - if I'm the MGM, I'm looking forward, not back. Like it or not, Canelo seems poised to be the biggest ticket attraction moving forward. Floyd says 2015 is his last. He wants to fight in NY, he wants to fight at Wembley. Who knows. Chances are he sticks with MGM riding out.
But MGM has to look at its long term prospects. Being the venue that sees Canelo possibly get his biggest win of his career will solidify him as the MGM's biggest attaction for maybe the next 5-7 years, however long his prime goes.
Then again, with that being said, MGM promoted Floyd during Pac fight week, so their loyalty seems quite set in stone. Cotto-Canelo I still think should be in NYC
