People should not be surprised that Joe is still being criticized. Joe has a long history that is downright stale. With this win, Joe has opened a door. That is ALL. He still has to WALK through it. If he goes on to do what he did before the Lacy fight (fighting unknown/unproven fighters at home) then his win means little. If he walsk through the door of oppurtunity and uses this fight as a launching pad to get bouts with guys like Kessler, Tarver, Woods, and Adamek, then we can really be impressed.
It is not a crime to admit that Lacy was not as good as people thought. That's not demeaning Joe, it's just stating a fact. And along with that, we also state the fact that Joe did very well and won in such a fashion that he demands attention.
You were one certain person i remember calling him Cal***gie! Cheers for those bad karma reports.
He must have known he was pretty good, otherwise he would have started slower, I think. He didn't seem tentative in the ring at all. Maybe he was unsure for the first minute of the fight, but it seemed by the time round1 had ended, he knew he could control the fight. At the end of the second round, he was pretty much overflowing with confidence.
****Cheney says: Tarver beat Roy 3 times when Roy was the p4p king.
Reality is: Tarver lost the first fight not because he was cheated but because he got extremely lazy in the middle and late rounds, plus the third time they fought Roy was on no ones p4p radar let alone number 1-WRONg ****.
So if Tarver is on his way to becoming a legend and you want Joe to fight a legend the question still remains...which legend do you want Joe to challenge? Legends dont grow on trees dip****.
You want some crusienrweight names huh?
Ever heard of Steve Cunnigham? How about Guerillmo Jones? What about O'neill Bell? Big Truck Braithwaite? Jean Marc Mormeck? Kelvin Davis?
**** if you have been following the cruiserwegith division which judging by your rhetoric you havent you would know that it is as competitive and as exciting collectively as it has been since the days of the Holyfield dynasty.
****, if you dont know **** the best move is to not say ****-your as dumb as they come and I love it, do you?
Wow you're one ****** mother****er! The cruisers have been dead for 15 years!
i didnt know joe was that good, i wanted and still want somebody to knock his ass out. but i give respect where its due and joe is the **** now. he beat up on lacy bad , it reminded me of the hopkins/trinidad fight. the straight ahead fighter getting worked over by the slick boxer. cong**** joe u ***get muther****er lol
The problem I have with Joe Calzaghe is that he has yet to show consistency. You don't know which Joe will show up, the mediocre Joe or the brilliant Joe. Two nights ago, the flawless Joe showed up and we found out what he can do at his best.
From what I seen, Calzaghe really isn't that good. Beating Lacy really doens't amount to much, because anyone that has watched Lacy's career knew that his lack of defense and head movement would catch up to him one day, he just fought a bunch of has beens and never wases and got "slapped" up once he fought someone that could really exploit his inexperince and lack of defense...But anyways Calzaghe did his thing because what is a man suppossed to do, when a boy calls you out, you tap his young ass... He whooped on lacy for a full 12 rounds, but I think it shows more about how these promoters will get a marketable fighter a bunch of choice fights and rely on his look and unbeaten record to promote a fight rather than his actual skill...
