He has to recover from balling out of control. Let the man rest and enjoy himself.

Canelo should do the same or they should just go ahead and agree to fight in December / January.
Let them fight in May and take away Mayweather's May date, that way he has to fight Pacquiao to even compete, we the fight fans win either way, sounds like a plan

I think there was a riff in camps. Cotto didn't want to go to philipines to train as roach was wanting since he is busy with pac. Seems to me cotto wants to 100% dedication for his fights. I suspect he will fight in Jan/Feb. There will still be three months for a May fight. So he passed on split training with pac and training in a place he didn't want to. He learned his lesson from trout with half assed training. I will be disappointed if he doesn't fight before may. Long layoff are not going to be good if he ends up in the ring with mayweather/GGG/Canelo.

This right here. Roach said Cotto wouldn't go to the Philippines, so he was planning on having Somodio cover Cotto for 4 weeks at wild card, then Roach would be back for the last 3 weeks.

I can't make sense out of what some people are saying. How is he having a long layoff, or likely to avoid injuries for a May 2015 fight when he's fighting CLOSER to the date. In any case it'd be too short of a rest period between fights.

...and that was the last time anyone ever saw the Middleweight Championship.

Cotto, the longest reigning Lineal Middleweight Champion in history with a record '0' consecutive defenses.

                      Yea, they're running short.

                      GGG/Rubio and Donaire/Walters Oct 18
                      Kovalev/Hopkins Nov 8
Terrence Crawford/ maybe Grandovich Nov 29
                      Canelo/TBA Dec 6 or 13
Timothy Bradley Dec 6 or 13

Also Ruslan and Andrade still coming back with a possible Rios
Ward being gone should've freed up some money, but most likely going to Canelo in a last minute move

plus they've been shrinking their budget recently.

If Cotto/Canelo did fight, it would be PPV
