He'll fight in February, I won't be surprised if he ends up fighting the winner of Sam Soliman/Jermain Taylor. He's going to position himself so he can fight Canelo on Puerto Rico Independence Day at Madison Square Garden. I highly doubt he fights Canelo on Cinco de Mayo at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
It wouldn't make sense to even try to go against Floyd Mayweather on that date anyways. The first Saturday of June works out perfectly for Cotto vs. Canelo and people will have the disposable income for that fight. It should do over 500k PPV buys.

"Top Rank president Todd duBoef, Cotto's promoter, told ESPN.com that Cotto would fight in either February or March on pay-per-view. As for a venue, duBoef said the No. 1 choice is Madison Square Garden, so he will need to talk to Garden executives about available dates."
That would imply that Canelo would not be next AND he will not fight Canelo in May. I don't even see Cotto fighting in June if that's true.
