Like you, I too acquire my soulfood at black ****** businesses and shun Chinamen to protest racism.

First we had privileged whites, latinos and real regular ******s trying to work and earn a living without giving the black man a cut. Now Chinamen too. Where is the black man's cut? What gives them the right to flaunt their entrepreneurship right in front of the black man without paying him a toll fee.

My father used to tell me "A black man is black" and I will never forget those words. The more I think about it the truer it is. I often pop my head into drive through windows and demand to know where's the black man's cut.

I see what you did there

Offer something to his community instead of just harboring resentment.

If he senses the need for economic justice in his town, how about taking some of the money he has earned and opening a small chain of soul food restaurants in his community. Hell, I wish someone would open some in my area. I was raised in East Oakland and there used to be more soul food restaurants than there are now. I live not far from there but I'd go anywhere for good soul food.

I will say this, I was always treated with way more respect at black-owned establishments, especially the Black ****** Bakery, than I have ever been treated at Chinese restaurants. Some of the wait staff at Chinese restaurants are downright rude and unaccommodating. I don't take it too personal because there is a sense of rush and lack of personal customer service at times and that may be more cultural than what I perceive as rudeness which does happen often in my experience.

Devon should have used the approach of establishing an urban presence with self-sustaining black-owned businesses and the message behind community building if he perceived such an issue with the Chinese restaurants. Perhaps he is jealous/envious of their success in his neighborhood, or he had a bad experience which is sounds like since some of those restaurants can have rude people or perceptibly rude people working there.

Simple cure - use his power and money to change things by improving his community with more dining options or other businesses. I think he had a bad experience or a legitimate perception that he took and snowballed into his own judgment and this clouded his opinions and from there he took his uncontrolled emotions to public. He should funnel his emotions into productivity and community involvement, rather than community depreciation.
The thing is, he IS opening a bbq joint, which is why his dumbass went on a racist rant putting another race down trying to drive away the competition because hes opening a restaurant. Devon's a piece of ****, snake move in my eyes by being racist publicly about it. What a ****ing moron lmao. He's a racist

Didn't he go on a rant calling everybody faggots?

I don't know how he really is, never met him... but if he really did post all those things...maybe he should let Team Alexander talk for him from now on.

Devon Alexander had his "Paula Dean" moment in describing Asian Americans. He probably thought that the term "Chinamen" wasn't offensive. A lot of first generation Asian Americans had little to no concept of American racism when they first came over into the U.S. If anything, Asians are "racial" towards other Asians in the U.S. when it comes to business. A lot of it can depend on national origin. I had a friend in high school that was second generation Cambodian American, and he couldn't STAND Vietnamese people. A lot of Japanese American restaurant owners have had their businesses running Japanese restaurants taken over by Koreans (which didn't set in too well with them, given the history between Korea and Japan). A colleague from Hong Kong once told me that a Chinese friend of his was treated like crap when he went to the Vietnamese restaurant in town.

Their rude feelings was probably due to past experiences from other customers. I'm a brotha myself, and it can be pretty hard operating a business within a Black neighborhood. But Asians taking over many small business in a lot of neighborhoods ain't nothin new... Look at the history between the Koreans and the Black Hair industry. You can only blame capitalism for that. We live in a country of (relatively) free enterprising, and you just can't restrict businesses from operating in a certain neighborhood based off of racial and ethnic background of the owners... It is what it is. But I would LOVE to see a lot of more black owned businesses. One thing is for certain.. I haven't heard of Asians trying to open up a West African market in Houston, or having a Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurant in Washington D.C...

TS you weren't treated badly in a Chinese restaurant because you were black - they don't give a **** about customer service in general.

WTF? Why would Asians set up a West African market or Ethiopian restaurant?

Who would eat there? nobody buddy.. They're Chinese of course they would open a Chinese restaurant.

If the Chinese opened a soul food restaurant they would either be:

                1. Laughed out of the neighbourhood
                2. Be hated for stealing/profiting from black culture

So TS wants alexander to reword what he said to cover up his racist views?

At least we get to see who the racists are in this thread.

The thing is that a lot of asians are willing to work longer hours for less money.

Here in Aus over the last 10 years all the corner stores, bakeries and petrol stations are all primarily run and owned by people of asian decent.

These sort of jobs (restaurants included) require you to work long and in most cases ungodly hours.

While most of your average white australians would prefer to work more normal hours and go for higher paying jobs if possible.

I could go on and on but the simple fact is that they are willing to work harder for what they want to achieve and some people have become jealous but arent prepared to put the hard work in themselves.

Calling a boycott on other people's businesses because you cant run yours to be competitive is laughable.
