Kovalev cuts very easily so the headbutts may prove very effective for hopkins.

He was cut against Cleverly and Agnew, don't know about his earlier fights.
I think cutting Kovalev up is Bhop's only hope of winning and he will be going in with his head every chance he gets. Hopefully, the ref won't give him too many of those chances and we will see a fair fight.

I just remember watching the agnew fight where he was cut twice and it appeared to happen from a small amount of contact.

Yeah.. that's obviously what Hopkins is going to try and do. It's not like the ref will actually warn Hopkins for doing it, so might as well do some cutting with the butts. I'm reading people say Kovalev ran out of ideas against Agnew? Kovalev was patient in that fight and kept hitting through Agnew's guard the whole fight. Agnew's face was a mess despite the guard and his body was broken. If anything, that was a good performance against an opponent with a different look.

You can give hopkins credit while also predicting a dirty fight. It's his style, it's by design. He is good at what he does but you can't force people to pretend he's some clean elegant fighter. The guy would probably rather bite your groin than lose.

Offensively that is how i felt about the fight, he stayed patient and methodically beat down Agnew to a good stoppage. But defensively, the different look you alluded to showed some holes in his D at least from my perspective. He just looked a little open on his left side... and he backed up straighter and squarer than usual in that fight as well. I felt he got a little lax on defense..not like Agnew was opening up with much. And then he got caught square in the last fight so he'll have to watch that I'd think
