He just looked a little open on his left side... and he backed up straighter and squarer than usual in that fight as well. I felt he got a little lax on defense..not like Agnew was opening up with much. And then he got caught square in the last fight so he'll have to watch that I'd think
Yeah, he gets hit with that left cross from a southpaw and sometimes the right hook, which is the only reason why Kovalev-Stevenson is still a tossup. His defense isn't perfect, but he's seeking to counter in range, so you better hurt him or else he's about to hurt you badly. It's a risky style that pays off most of the time since he's an accurate puncher, takes balls and is fun to watch.

Well said. Lol @ these newage nuthugger fans who can't name a style for what it is. Fans these days are too sensitive. But apparently it's disrespect to do so in this pseudo world of e-respect.

gotto go with b-hop on this one. k is strong but b-hop is clever and can frustrate any opponent. its b hops output im more concerned with. he doesnt throw the volume to win decisively. i see b-hop by split decision.

He got cut off a butt against Cleverly as well. I've not seen signs he's especially easy to cut, but it's certainly something that Hopkins will have noticed.

Old man Hopkins is gonna have to use every trick he's ever learned to see the end of this fight IMO.

This ^. If you're someone who lives and dies by their favourite fighter, Kovalev's likely to give you a heart attack.

Whilst far from devoid of defense or boxing skills in general he's the quintessence of a fighter whose offense is their defense.

I'm a big fan and his relentless aggression makes him one of the most exciting fighters in the sport (especially in the higher divisions) right now, but damn, I keep wincing at how open he can leave himself on occasion. Generally his opponents are so reluctant to open up after the first few rounds that he gets away with it, but still..
