  • The Best Week of Boxing in 2014 Has Arrived

    Friday: Akira Yaegashi-Roman Gonzalez

Saturday: Juan Francisco Estrada-Giovani Segura; Kiko Martinez-Carl Frampton II

We lost a clash between the two best Heavyweights out there and still have these three stellar main events.

It doesn't get much more exciting than this.

Smile boxing fans. This is what it looks like when the sport is getting it right.

Showtime has some fights too. Maybe one or two of those will add even more to the mix.

I mentioned Showtime. It's the fourth best card of the weekend by a lot. That says a lot about the weekend. I'm intrigued my Matthysse.

If the main on Showtime and Estrada-Segura overlap, anyone who doesn't switch and DVR Showtime (if they have BeIn for the other) is stargazing IMO. There's no question what the better fight is.

I think Kiko could upset Frampton.

I like both fighters. First fight was very tough for Frampton until that huge shot he landed.

And Kiko is at his best right now.

I'm not in the country so I'll have to wait until the following Monday to watch it sadly.

That goes for all the fights on Saturday and friday

I noticed that. Very much looking forward to this weekend. What's funny is that the weakest card of the weekend is the one on the major network.

I think they'll both be better. That favors Carl IMO. He's still quicker and better defensively. I think this sequel tops the original for thrills and that's high praise because the first was a good fight.

I cracked up when Showtime was announced and people were carrying on about bad times in boxing. First, that's not even really a bad show. It's decent. Second, the rest of the weekend.

For hardcore boxing fans, this is AWESOME. For people who think boxing stops off US premium cable, well, expand those horizons.

I'm actually relieved about Klitschko/Pulev being postponed. It probably would have dragged the weekend down.

Great fights all over the place, can't wait.
