Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux: Negotiations Are Underway To Face Avalos

The WBO recently ordered a purse bid for a fight between WBO/WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux and top contender Chris Avalos. Rigondeaux's promotional contract with Top Rank expired after his July knockout victory over Sod Kokietgym. Top Rank is also Avalos' promoter.

While Rigondeaux would prefer a unification bout with Kiko Martinez or Leo Santa Cruz, he said that he has no problem facing the Southern California based Avalos.

lol this guy cracks me up with the "my next fight MUST be in the United States", like he has anything to say about it.

Here's a hint. You dont have a valid promoter. Your next fight will be wherever the promoter who wins the purse bid says it will be.......

Who said anything about a purse bid? He's trying to reach an agreement with Top Rank. Agreement = no purse bid. Staging Rigondeaux-Avalos in the U.S. could be part of the negotiations. That being said, Top Rank are in the driver's seat here so I don't see them accepting that demand.

If he fights in the USA he should get paid about 800 bucks. He'll be fighting in some hotel ballroom in Vegas for about 400 people all of whom are more interested in their keno tickets than watching this guys ballet routine

i'd like to see rigonseaux fight frampton in northern ireland

frampton is the real deal imo, and the best challenge for rigo at that weight

Everyone is talking about rigo with disregard for the opponent here. Avalos is a young strong kid with good skills and a power punch that could change things in a flash, i hope posters on here dont sleep on this kid.. and he has improved alot since his losses so id give his kid a pretty good shot at an upset..

There is no time , almost , for negotiations . According to caribe " leches " promotion , the purse bid will be on Monday , sept the 1 , in Puerto Rico .

Hope roc nations ( jay z ) goes and wins it , since caribe doesn't have the money , nor Gary Hyde , to outbid bob arum and top rank . If top rank wins , you can be sure this fight will be in China , manny pacquiao undercards .

Go get it , jay z , peter quilling - korobovov ; rigo - Avalos , will be a good one . Go and beat all of them : bob arum , caribe and Gary Hyde .

I wonder if this statement was said by rigo or was Gary Hyde speaking ????
Don't think rigo has said what was said yesterday or today about him , all this sounds as his "manager " Gary Hyde is doing it .

September 1 , bid on Puerto Rico .
