The fact is, you can talk about the mythical "prime vs prime" but it is still always going to be speculation.

How do you know that Roy will beat Calzaghe?

Could it be the same reason you KNEW Lacy would beat Calzaghe?

Or maybe the same theory as to why you KNEW Pavlik would whoop B Hop?

And most people here KNEW that Manny was going to get KO'd by Oscar.

We only have one thing to go on, and that's Calzaghe W12 Jones Jr.

You can cry about it all you like, and claim "prime vs prime", but it doesn't mean ****, nobody knows what would happen.

For the record, I voted draw, as it's too close to call.
I don't see this fight being that close. They already fought, and we seen that even though Jones was past his prime with barley any reflexes, Joe still fought cautious and did not throw when Roy let his hands go. Jones at his best was far more accurate than that, was much faster and had way more stamina. He would have kept neutralizing Joe's punches by keeping the fight on the outside and timing him with counters, and if he got Joe hurt with something he didn't see, trust me he wouldn't just stare at him the way he did. He would go after him. He had the right game plan, he just didn't have that glow anymore.

I have it a draw, I can't pick between them. I won't glorify Jones like he was some kind of superhuman either (he wasn't, that's why he got KTFO twice), in fact despite being a big Roy Jones fan, sometimes he annoyed me because he appeared to be too concerned with how he looks, throwing pretty punches and making the crowd go "woo!". It's a bit ghey, to be honest.

That post just sounds a little bitter IMO.

Basically, Joe would have been too easy to hit to beat a prime Jones. At his best Jones threw lightning quick power combinations and Joe would have taken too many. Do you think Joe would have been able to sit there with his hands down and clown Jones when he was a 168 pounder?

I got Jones, maybe 10 rounds to 2 or 9 to 3. Joe would win his rounds in the second half of the fight when Roy slows down and Joe's stamina comes through. I would expect Roy to sweep the first 8 or so without too much trouble.

I am a fan of both of them, but if they fought in there prime I would have probably wanted Calzaghe to win, but I chose Jones, Jr. because in his prime I think he was a better fighter and would have what it takes to beat Joe. Jones, Jr. was an absolutely amazing fighter in his prime, no doubt about that!
