Well, a kid not being guided properly... it's not that kid's fault if he starts to head down the wrong path.

My point was though, that excuse can only last for so long. Once you reach a certain age, you have to start taking responsibility for your actions and the priorities you set for yourself, especially someone who's as well off as Mayweather is. There's absolutely no excuse for him not to have better himself as a man by improving his education, setting a good example for his kids and the thousands of others who look up to him.

However, a big problem with this country is people deflecting the blame of their problems onto the government and their parents and everyone but themselves.

The fact of the matter is, Floyd is damn near 40-years-old. Once you reach a certain age, you should want to better yourself intellectually. And someone with Floyd's money and stature, it's HIS own fault if he never took the initiative to learn how to read better and improve his education as a whole. He's had all the time and opportunities in the World to do so, but HE choose not to.

And while I do think it's cruel to make fun of him for it, it does send out a good message to these young guys out there who dream of being a superstar athlete or rapper or something like that. If you can't read, it will come back and bite you in the ass eventually, and people will take you less seriously because of it. It doesn't matter how much money or success you have, not many will respect you if can't read. And these guys can harp on about how they don't care about "respect" or "what people think of them" but we all know that's horse****. Floyd has never taken criticism well, so you know this is eating at him. And it would eat at most people.

Now, with all that said... with this coming out so close to the fight, I am interested in seeing how Floyd responds. Will it motivate him in training, or will it throw him off his game? So that will be interesting.

Also, I guarantee the buy rate for Mayweather/Maidana has jumped up big time because of all this. No one gave a **** about this rematch, but who doesn't want to see Floyd fight now, no matter who his opponent is? Everybody's going to want to see how he responds to all this, if it impacts his performance, etc. Not to mention if Maidana takes a couple of shots at him about it at a presser or something like that; it'll only fuel people's interests.
The buy rate for this fight has nothing to do with wether or not Floyd's dumb ass can read or not. The buy rate for this fight will be increased because Maidana beat his ass up last fight. And people believe in Maidana. Not Floyd. People just wanna see Floyd lose. The last fight was a flip in ppv numbers and after hearing and seeing recaps of fights more people will tune in for the rematch. Maidana did that. Saying people will watch this fight because Floyd can't read is ******ed and takes away from what Maidana did in the ring.

Nah, Maidana gassed by the 5th Round of that fight, and the rest was your typical Mayweather point snoozefest, which he rightfully won. I expect no different in the rematch. And the fight's gotten zero hype to this point... no one has cared. People have been more into Floyd's antics with TI than this fight. People have been more interested about who Floyd will fight next May than this fight against Maidana.

However, this whole reading debacle has put Mayweather in the headlines, and will keep him there until the fight, thus improving what I guarantee would have been another disappointing buy rate.

And in each case, they did not do an interview with the publisher. They did something else (which I won't even bother getting into). Keep in mind, it's not a biography. It's an autobiography.

Chelsea Handler also went on Howard Stern implying that 50 Cent is on the illiterate side. Saying that he would send her all sorts of texts with bad spelling, bad grammar, just bad English skills all the way around. So yes, it is the same thing in essence as Floyd being unable to read well. Because in both cases we see people who lack basic English skills on the high school or elementary level. Reading and writing goes hand in hand.

You're the only one making yourself look incompetent by acting as if entertainers like 50, Jay, etc, are Harvard scholars just because they are rich. Buying into the hype. A lot these guys, like Floyd, barely finished high school, and admit that they didn't even attend all the time. They were in the streets drug dealing, getting into trouble, sometimes in jail, etc. You expect them to be different when they clearly tell you that school was the least of their priorities as kids? Yeah right.
Your reply clearly indicated you have no understanding of the industry. Celebrities are not in the book writing business. They are not authors, they are not necessarily skilled at writing engaging material. Publishers come to them with things they want, and assign a team to them to develop it. Writing a book takes A LONG TIME. A celebrity with a busy life full of appearances, and you know... actually doing that work that they were made famous for, doesn't really have book writing time, which is why most everything is ghost written. Donald Trump has several ghostwritten books, are you inferring that it is because he can't read or write at a level sufficient for publishing?

The biggest problem of your argument is that you are referencing people like rappers and musicians who have gained their fame from having a fairly complete mastery of the english language, despite however they are marketed. Asserting that these people who make their living off the production of english language entertainment based around a form of poetry are unable to read is asinine.

Yes, athletes like Floyd can be dumb, which is why they go broke. You were not referencing athletes exclusively, you were drawing a parallel between Floyd and the entertainment community as a whole for the most part, and making yourself look like a tool who hasn't actually been around any of these entertainers. They are as a whole very smart, articulate, and literate, even when they are marketed as street and hood and gangsters.

Floyd on the other hand can't read.

For every page you helped contribute to this thread, that's another $80 worth of PPV purchases you just helped him pocket.

                  Another 6 grand right there.

And LOL(!) at "money created education" and "mother nature is the only thing that can triumph money". This must be the bull**** they teach in the "inner cities" (poor places).
They certainly are not teaching chomsky in the inner school system. And unfortunately critical thinking is also non gratis.... As in when you explain to a fellow poster that something is a fact and they disagree lol ***128514; I am glad they at least read one of chomsky's books... It's a start.

As for the exaggerated importance of money it is because people with real knowledge do real well when the plebes believe this nonsense. It makes for great ****** striving to servitude of varying degrees (great job bill) instead of understanding how things work and making a business which in turn provides an income and no boss.

I chimed in because its funny to watch you insult the education of another while improperly using the language.

Btw, the anglicized spelling is anglicised; "anglised" isn't even a word...
