I said I was wrong, and I'm happy to eat crow because Joe put on a great preformance.

The point I was making is that one win, his 1st noteworthy one in years, doesn't erase all the deserved critisism about having wasted a great many years of his career in his own backyard fighting stiffs.

I've read too many comments that seem like people think this one win erases all the poor competition and home cooking he's had through the better part of his career.

He's 33, and really just stepping up now.

Will he continue to step up? Or was this a one time thing?

    Time will tell.

agree wit Bozo. I seen a NOOB said Calzaghe is #3 P4P. Not long ago, this guy IN MA SIGNATURE said another "WTF" statement.

Calzghe isn't a top P4P fighta fo beating Jeff Lacy. He has to win another quality fight.

Point taken in that he's taken way too long to step up the competition. But at this stage in his career.....to roll back the years like that is absolutely astonishing.

Nobody in the states outside of a resident Limey thought he would.

Lacy throws very wide shots, isn't the fastest guy in the world, and only had 21 fights.

Joe was faster and got in between Lacy's shots.

It was a good style match up for Joe, and a bad one for Lacy.

Joe has had a good run with title defenses and is a solid guy, but he's no p4p caliber fighter. Beating Lacy is just something that any world-class guy was going to do. I need to see Calzaghe get in with Kessler or if he still has time in the sport, Bute when he matures.

I'm not overly impressed with anyone who runs up a string of WBO title defenses, all in europe. Not just Joe, but anyone who's had that similar set of circumstances.

As far as I'm concerned, he's just now proved he's the top at 168 with one of his first significant wins.

It's a clean slate, and if he travels for fight Kessler or moves to Lt Heavy to seek bigger fights, he'll win me over.
