Comments Thread For: Canelo: Cotto is a Natural Fight That People Want

Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 32KOs) is going to return to action in the month of December, but he knows there is a much bigger fight in the picture for 2015. Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) himself is also going to return in December with a defense of his WBC middleweight championship.

Cinco De Mayo? Fighting on that weekend will force Showtime/Mayweather to create a mega fight and undercard to compete with that main event.

    Pacquiao?

    Garcia?

Floyd opts for Cotto rematch and negates this fight?

This does put MW in a tight spot if he wants to remain PPV King.

            C'mon...
I don't get it how some people can criticize Canelo level of comeptition. Was he protected? Yes, pretty much. Is he still protected? He chose to fightagains Trout, Lara and May and from these maybe just the last one was wanted by his team too, the other 2 were typical high risk low reward fights, but he fought them. So no, he is clearly not protected now. You can say that why is he still fighting in 154 when he can't make the weight, because if you really want to hate someone this kind of BS reason is enough, but hey, he wanted to prove thathe is the best at 154 and Lara accepted the terms, didn't he? By the rules his belt is still him. And at 155 which is 1pound bigger than 154 he beat Lara, not convincingly (btw hard to look good against a Lara type of fighter) but on a tight fight IMO he deserved it. So what's the problem now? I don't know why he said that he won't go up to 160 and he stays at 154 but I think just a few months and he will finally change his mind about this.

Make this fight now and lets end the Giftanelo hype.

              War Cotto!

I don't think it will happen, GBP may be with Showtime, but Floyd is their Cash Cow for the next 3 fights, NOT Canelo, I think it's funny Canelo is trying to shove Floyd out of the Cinco De Mayo weekend because he's not Mexican lmao, ain't happenin, I'm sure Showtime will fight that, and not try and put on a card that matches. Besides if the fight were to happen I'm sure both networks would show the fight like they did when Lewis fought Tyson. But I hope Floyd ****s Canelo and offers Cotto way more money for a fight in May

Watch. One or both of these guys will lose their next fight and the luster will be gone. Why not strike while the iron is hot and make the fight in December? Smh

The balls in cottos court, not arums (or canelo). If the fight happens, I'd think it would happen in the first week of June, not may. In Msg. As usual.

Unless cotto is going for that Mexican money, but he's good on money, and the fights huge enough as is.
