You dont have to be Mexican to fight on those dates.. History has shown(well before Mayweather decided to exclusively fight on those dates) that the highest PPV ratings of the year for Boxing comes on those dates, thanks to the loyal Mexican fan base that rent Boxing matches during their parties and what not. I believe Oscar did the same and others aswell.. Pacquiao would have had the same dates if Mayweather didnt beat him to it, thats why you see Pacquiao always fighting a month before, or a month after with a few exceptions.

Wait, what? We talked about why he fights on those dates, not ppv buys. We were just curious to see why an african American fights on Hispanic holidays. Who would care about ppv numbers anyway?

Because nobody would pay more to see him lose more than Mexicans.

Did you guys discuss why Mexican fighters fight during Kwanzaa also?

Why is that a big deal if he loses? So what?

Mexicans can't stand him, but I was joking about that having anything with him to do with fighting on those holidays. I don't know the answer to your thread question.

Floyd fights Latin fighters on Latin holidays for PPV reasons. It's a smart business move, but if you're the true PPV king and your name alone is the reason people buy ur fights like Floyd claims it shouldn't matter what race u fight and what date u fight on becuz people will pay to see u. But Floyd relies on his Latin opponents fan base to sell on PPV along with a loaded Latin undercard. If Floyd was the true PPV king have him fight another African American fighter with his Mayweather promotion fighters on the undercard on MLK DAY and see if he sells on PPV.

they got this idea from bob arum when he started talking about how mexicans fill up stadiums. then all of a sudden schaefer was scrambling to get dates on mexican holidays. they also copied the promotional tours from bob arum with thousands of onlookers. it was very effective.
