  • Embarrassing Fight Night God-Praying Backfires?

I can think of a few..

Obviously most recent is Shawn Porter when he did that real strange hugging thing with his pops before the fight, praying to their gods..

Another one which springs to mind is when Hamed did the whole god praying religious shout out before the Barrera fight and ends up getting beat

what about when pacquiao held a praying ceremony in his hotel room with like 20 people before the marquez fight and then he gets ko'd

    any others?

Pretty much all fighters say some kind of prayer, whether publicly or privately, before a fight. Not a ton of atheists/agnostics in the sport.

I have no problem with that. I'm more annoyed when athletes, celebrities, whatever, thanking god for winning as if a god gives a **** about a sport or a grammy, etc.

Usually the prayer is for their health!

Do you know of any boxers who are open atheists in the sport? Man, it's crazy times, atheism should be the norm, in fact it shouldn't even be called atheism it should be called "normal". Anyone who believes in these fictional characters should be called abnormal, delusion, indoctrinated etc.. but we live in a strange world where those beliefs in fantasy are still accepted. No different to believing in Zeus - but modern-day religious people laugh at the thought of believing in Zeus, it's really only a matter of time before everyone will laugh at those who believed in the gods of our time. It's really crazy that people are still dumb enough to do that! No offense but it's true.

Hopefully in the future people will understand how religious beliefs are formed and why they persist. And by understanding they wont mock them and laugh at them and display the sort of condescending, obnoxious arrogance that passes for enlightenment by atheists these days.

btw im atheist, but dont look down on people because of their beliefs. Many of them are better people than myself.
To single out one aspect of who they are and use it to belittle them is silly imo.
Many of the greatest boxers have faith. Why overlook everything they have achieved in such a tough sport and insult them for their beliefs?
Like most boxing fans, if you met them in real life you would be slobbering all over them.

god has a destiny for everyone.

look at what pac accomplished after getting ko'ed.

and i'm sure porter will do great things as well as long as he keeps a strong love for the Lord.
