Who is Cotto going to fight on PPV? He barely did 300k against Martinez and that was supposed to be a mega fight.

Nobody is going to pay $70 bucks to see Cotto vs. Andy Lee with a garbage Top Rank under card.

how about televising some of the flyweight championship matches that are coming up? HBO has paid short shrift to the little guys in boxing and now it's coming back to bite them in the ass when they don't have any of the HBO regulars like Brandon Rios to put on.

Exactly. The Garcia vs. Salka fight should have never been put on TV. That was a joke in a half. Makes you think that Showtime thinks it can play it viewers as fools.

This year, HBO lost some big names: Chavez Jr, Martinez, Stevenson, Rigo (?)... And one would be tempted to count here even Ward (for his extended inactivity)...

HBO will be HBO no matter what. They will stay big even without boxing. Most of their subscribers subscribed because of their regular programming, not boxing. Boxing is a bonus for their subscribers.

And I think they're employing an iron fist when it comes to negotiating fights. Take it or leave it. They learned a hard lesson with Haymon. Paying fighters astronomical sums for fighting bums will bite you in the face eventually. Good for them.

Absolutely Sho aren't giving us the fights we want, and some are indeed garbage. However, we're still getting decent fights like broner vs Taylor. It's better than nothing lol. I'm not here to favour one or the other, they're not paying me..

Schaefer and Haymon took all their fighters to SHO, fighters that HBO built up. You gotta be a moron to expect HBO do miracles with that kind of disadvantage.

The bigger joke is, despite of the advantage SHO have, they failed to make fights fans expected them to make. All they wanna do are Salka types of fights. It became clear that Haymon fighters will not fight each other.

And HBO still murdered them last year. And we all know that SHO's rep is at an all time low right now. They have become a JOKE network.

The blog says, "Now, you can argue that Showtime is more about quantity than quality..."

Hehe... yet the chart shows HBO still beat them by a wide margin on the quantity aspect last year. I don't know what these people are talking about. Showtime is still playing catch up despite their voluminous fighters in their stable.
