What I don't get is why Goosen has to win. There is no real doubt he has a contract that is enforcable (read the legal papers) but to what end? LET WARD BUY OUT his contract!! if he doesn't want to be promoted by you let it go. Jusg because someone is legally right does not make something ethical.

Ward puts his ass and his labor out there and has some rights as to who benefitts from this labor...at least he should. Goosen is legally right but morally vacous. And why do people assume Ward's problem is with the money?

Ward might ended up being this generation's Curt Flood. (Google that).

What if he demands that all HBO fights where he's a commentator be in California?

Ah.. that's the one . Thanks RussCrush,

Couldn't quite remember where I'd seen this quote.

$1.75 mil guaranteed per fight essentially prices Andre out of everything he's likely to get. Ward ain't PPV material and there's precious few who are even close at, or around the weight class.

If this is true then K2 are absolutely right in saying a Ward fight makes no financial sense. If Ward would requires $1.75mil, it'd be a matter of Golovkin either getting almost nothing for the toughest fight of his career or HBO taking a big loss knowing that there's a good chance Ward could be looking at going to a competitor.

Ward is accusing Goossen of violating the Ali Act by not making timely disclosures between 2004 and 2012 of all compensation or consideration Goossen was receiving from or in relation to the fight. He also accused Goossen of not making timely disclosures of any purse reductions, charges and expenses that would be coming out of Ward***8217;s pay.
