    Smh........

This just goes to show us how immature and argumentative these morons are. They know darn well Leonard didn't duck Pryor. It's not in his make up as a fighter. They also said he ducked Julian Jackson. Smh. He would've Ko'ed The other Hawk as well. Leonard is perhaps the greatest fighter ever. He only lost once in his prime and look at who he lost to. Duran is perhaps the greatest lightweight in history. Do these idiots know what it requires to beat a fighter like Duran??? Hagler??? Benetiz??? Hearns??? These guys were killers you didn't wanna dance with. They look at how ****y and handsome Leonard is and think it's a game until they got in the ring with him. Hahaha.

Well that version is actually true. Pryor at the time had been given some very bad career advice in over pricing himself out of that fight.

I think Team Leonard was offering him a little less or more than a $1 Million for the fight, in which Pryor's team had subsequently turned down which was a shame and huge mistake on their part, because the two had a very long standing amateur history together. Furthermore Pryor was the more decorated amateur of two and was touted as the one more likely to bring home the Olympic gold medal until he loss to Howard Davis, Jr at the 1976 Olympic trials.

In addition, Aaron was a very live dog for the bout and could have very possibly pulled off the upset.

I cannot believe this discussion is still around after all these years.

Pryor entered stardom with his stoppage of Alexis Arguello. Unfortunitely Ray Leonard was already retired before that with a detached retna. It was a match discussed as was Marciano-Ali but the time line was wrong. Look it up.

So, I'm surprised no one asked me my source for my assertion that the fight contract was signed for a fight between Leonard and Pryor. Well, guess what? It is actually on Aaron Pryor's Wikipedia site. But, you don't always go by Wikipedia as they can have incorrect information at times. But when Wikipedia's information is aligned with NEW YORK TIMES, then you know it is real. Especially if it is dated for the era:

SPORTS OF THE TIMES (Leonard vs Pryor)

            By Dave Anderson

            Published: November 14, 1982

MIAMI IT'S now the fight that didn't happen, but it's also the fight that might still happen someday -Aaron Pryor against Sugar Ray Leonard for the world welterweight championship.

Aaron Pryor is now a boxer for the public, not merely for the purists. By battering Alexis Arguello into a 14th-round knockout Friday night in the Orange Bowl, he retained his World Boxing Association junior welterweight title. But more important, he established his appeal as an attraction now that Sugar Ray Leonard has announced his retirement from boxing.

''But it wouldn't surprise me if Ray Leonard comes out of retirement after awhile,'' Aaron Pryor said last Wednesday, ''probably against the winner of this fight.''

Whenever a logical and lucrative challenger emerges, as Aaron Pryor has, Sugar Ray Leonard might be tempted to box again. Perhaps he will return, perhaps he won't. Ironically, the Pryor-Arguello bout would not have occurred Friday night if Sugar Ray Leonard were still boxing. Six months ago Sugar Ray Leonard had agreed to defend his 147-pound title against Aaron Pryor sometime this fall at an undetermined site.

''I signed the contract,'' Aaron Pryor recalled. ''I was going to get $750,000.''

But first, Sugar Ray Leonard had to retain his title against Roger Stafford in Buffalo on May 14. The Sunday before that bout, Aaron Pryor was driving to Buffalo from his Cincinnati home to taunt Sugar Ray Leonard, to hype their planned bout, when he heard on his car radio the news that the welterweight champion had needed surgery for a detached retina in his left eye.

''I pulled off to the side of the road,'' Aaron Pryor remembered, ''and I cried.'' As amateurs, they had been close friends who boxed in different weight classes. Often they played cards for sticks of gum because that's all they could afford.

Honestly, you wonder why p*ssies like Aaron Pryor even take up boxing if all they're going to do is duck challenges. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he asked his wife to shoot him to avoid fighting Mamby..

Red bar doesn't mean jack ****. Somebody doesn't agree with you and the do whatever to make it red. I don't give a ****. I'm a Floyd fan and I've noticed most people that defend Floyd have red bars.

Yeah right. Just because somebody likes a certain boxer you brand everyone that. Shows you that the ****ung green bar/red bar means absolutely nothing. I like watching Floyd. He's not TBE but he's been a talented fighter for a long time. I don't hate any boxer. But because of some of the idiot fan bases that you can't even have a sensible discussion with I do hope their favorites GTFKO just so they shut up.
