That's called a buildup. Fact, Pryor signed to face Sugar Ray Leonard for the undisputed welterweight championship in the fall of 1982. His purse was going to be $750,000. Pryor had previously been offered $500,000 to fight Leonard, but he turned it down. Everything was contingent on Leonard defeating Roger Stafford.
