And Ezpinoza rejected Hopkins-Kovalev, yet approved Hopkins-Kovalev

Its clearly a Haymon issue........ or is Bernard Hopkins not promoted by GBP for his fight against Kovalev?
Seriously what don't u get? HBO banned GBP. Not Haymon. Period. They may have had a problem with Haymon but he wasn't banned. What is happening now has nothing to do with what happened before. I suggest u look up their statement when their decision was announced.

Hershman has made many statements since they banned GBP that he is against Haymon mismatches. Take it for what its worth.

They were still fighting on HBO cause they had fights left on their contracts with HBO.

Lol ok "since they banned GBP". I've never denied they had issues with Haymon. What I do know is they were still willing to put Haymon fighters on but weren't so willing with GBP fighters.

You gotta remember, Dempsey is a lawyer and he'll tell you he's worked for HBO too. So he knows more than you. The guy just does everything.

                  Why are you defending Ezpinoza?

This is the guy who rejected Hopkins-Kovalev because Kovalev is not a well known enough name and it didnt "make sense"

.....yet he approved Hopkins-Murat a couple days later

"It did surprise me simply because he took less money to fight Kovalev. At this stage of his career, Bernard has been very clear that he wants to maximize revenues. That's the way it surprised me."
Revenue maximization isn't a one fight at a time process. That type of thinking is what gets us fights like Garcia-Salka. I think it's clear based on Bernard's comments about the dealmaking behind his fight with Kovalev that Bernard is wisely playing the long game.

First, there was no guarantee that the Stevenson fight was going to be made. Bernard is no fool. He smelled something funny and made a deal based on what was actually on the table - a deal few people thought he would make. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Second, Bernard is one of the most accomplished fighters in boxing. While a lot of people expect Kovalev to beat him, BHop has been beating guys who were supposed to send him into retirement for a long time. When Bernard beats Kovalev, it will give him even more leverage and should set him up for even bigger paydays.

Bernard is doing it the way it should be done. He's putting his legacy first and fighting for himself. He isn't fighting for a promoter, manager or network.
