I said it yesterday, its not Haymon on this one, Its Eric Gomez the matchmaker - quick boxing 101, the promoter does not pick the opponents now most approve them along with the fighter, but the matchmakers are the ones who do this crap.. I bet Haymon just got Salka's name thrown at him and said yes run him by team Garcia to see what they think - its the Matchmakers that pick the opponents - Floyd is probably the only fighter that does not use one.

He fought no names at lightweight. He looked all of 130lbs soaking wet, and was scared to death in the ring, noticeably so. That's how you get guys seriously hurt. SHO, Espinoza, Haymon should get suspended for such a horrific match up. Oscar and Lamont Peterson sought to get Peterson and Garcia into a unification fight, and Haymon had other plans. I've never seen a mismatch as bad as that Salka selection was.... EVER! And Garcia didn't have to agree to it.

Do your homework. You're wrong. Danny Garcia himself said Haymon picks his opponents and he fights them and leaves it at that. Oscar said earlier in the week, he tried to get Peterson into a unification fight with Garcia, but Haymon wouldn't let that happen. Which is why Oscar did little promoting of this fight card, which SHO Espinoza *****ed about last night. Haymon was in protect mode. His gravy train Garcia had a near death experience at home in PR against Herrera, and they were so not taking any risk, that Haymon found a lightweight who never fought ANYONE credible at lightweight. Had only 3 career KO's, was unranked 100 deep by ALL 6 Boxing Organizations, and had never fought at 140, so they make the fight at 142, since the opponent was such a pathetic choice, the organizations wouldn't even allow it to be a title defense , AND they could collect sanctioning fees if it were a title fight, so that's how horrible they found the match up to be. They should suspend Haymon's paycheck! Salka was scared to death; they could have really gotten him hurt. Don't tell me about all these great fights Garcia had prior; they were great and credible. But after they got their head handed to them by Herrera, they didn't know what they had left in Garcia, and they went as soft as humanly possible. Salka took the fight for his biggest payday ever. You can bet 100 other guys ranked ahead of Salka are pretty pissed how they were all over looked for this tomato can who is far and away the least deserving. And this clown Gomez has the audacity to say, "hey he deserved the fight". Really???? Based on what? I think it's time for Garcia to go to 147 and fight somebody like Thurman or Maidana and see how Garcia likes to be on the receiving end. Haymon is as crooked as Don King.

This jus in Garcia vs Peterson on Mayweather may's undercard with Rigondeaux vs Santa Cruz and Bey jr vs Figueroa jr and alsol in the spring will be Algieri vs Vargas on Pac vs Marquez 5 undercard with winner of (Rios vs Ruslan) vs (Chavez vs Alvarado) and Crawford vs Abril

I agree with whoever said you can't compare Garcia fighting guys like Rod Salka with GGG or Kovalev's choice of opponents. There are two major differences. One: GGG and Kovalev's last opponents were actually ranked! Two: GGG and Kovalev have called out the top level opponents they want to face, who are belt holders in Cotto and Quillin for GGG and Stevenson and Hopkins (fight that is now thankfully scheduled) for Kovalev. They don't cherry pick like Garcia. They fight whoever is willing to fight them. On many occasions that is not the absolute best competition because a lot of the best competition aren't interested in fighting them. You can say GGG is ducking Ward but that's nowhere near the cherry picking of Garcia's latest bout. They're not even the same weight class and GGG has made it clear he wants to clean out the middleweight division.
