Stevens took a far bigger beating than Geale did.

Obviously it lasted longer, but Stevens took far more in his first 3 rounds with GGG. Geale was moving, landing some shots (arm punches though) and not getting hit too much. Stevens was getting rammed with the jab and pushed into the ropes where he was then getting bludgeoned...that continued for 8 rounds when his corner had to save him.

Yup and that is exactly what you want to see in a fighter. Stevens will fight anyone and still believes he can beat Golovkin. I wish all fighters had that mindset.

People underrate the Stevens win for GGG, CS is a tough man and I'd love to see them get it on again If N'dam doesn't win.

Curtis Stevens is a good, exciting fighter to watch. but he's not world-class. lacks the technical skills to match his power. GGG finishes him off inside of 5rd in the event of a rematch.

like many (including myself) has said, the fighter who beats GGG is a powerful counter-puncher with good footwork, defense, ring generalship, and a solid chin. The # of middleweights who fit that bill is embarrassingly slim. only real threat to GGG's undefeated status is Andre Ward. no one at 154 or 160 is beating Golovkin.

It wasn't just one hard hook, he had a few good connects sometime after the KD. It was neither a close nor competitive fight, but it was the boldest showing by a Golovkin opponent for a while. Many times Stevens wasn't afraid to step up to him, and when he let his hands go he didn't do too bad besides the KD.

For round 3, yeah. But late in round 4 he started opening up and landed several hard right hands and a left or two, all of which knocked Golovkin back a bit. Also a few uppercuts and body shots in round 6. Stevens sure as hell did not get steamrolled in there.

I'm not saying it justifies a rematch at this point but, if Stevens can string some good wins together, who knows what the promoters will try and cook up in the absence of anyone else willing to be "another GGG victim". Although maybe by that point Golovkin will simply move up to 168.
