You knew as good as I did that Ward wasn't gonna fight this year. And boxing is no worse off.
I'm hoping that Ward retires from boxing and does the HBO gig full time. I thought he did a great job calling the Rios-Chaves fight the other night. That's were he belongs...in the broadcast boothLast edited by BostonGuy; 08-05-2014, 12:47 PM.Comment

I guess I had a small glimmer of hope after he failed at arbitration earlier this year.... But I knew he was going to sue him this month.... So it was just that small glimmer we have te stuff we know won't happen. You knew as good as I did that Ward wasn't gonna fight this year. And boxing is no worse off.

Good commentator though.... If wards out, HBO should keep him on tapComment

Hey chill out with that sh@t.
Keep religion out of it. This has nothing to do with his faith.
No fighter should have to guess what is going to be taken out of his purses for any reason.
GGG has business at 160 right now anyways.Comment

I remember when Floyd was with Top Rank and Arum "tried" to tell floyd his monetary worth based on his lack of "excitement" in the ring. Had Floyd listened to Arum he would never be the highest $$ boxer in history.
Just because some people don't think Ward isn't worth much because his lack of excitement doesn't mean he's not a diamond in the ruff with the right marketing.
But if Goosen was wrong in not disclosing to Ward the correct amounts that he should've gotten paid, Ward has every right to file a lawsuit.
But his inactivity is definitely damaging his career.Comment

Ward would need to comeback, fight, sell himself, then go out on his own. I don't know that he has the charisma to do that. You also need a firm plan. Floyd, ellerbee and Haymon had one. Ward doesn't appear to.I remember when Floyd was with Top Rank and Arum "tried" to tell floyd his monetary worth based on his lack of "excitement" in the ring. Had Floyd listened to Arum he would never be the highest $$ boxer in history.

You gotta remember, Floyd wasn't always "Money Mayweather". Once upon a time he was shy and humble and just Pretty Boy Floyd. The Money Mayweather persona, flashyness, and trash talking Floyd came about when he knew he had to bait other fighters in the ring and sell tickets outside the ring because his performances inside the ring weren't gonna put people in seats. I remember when Floyd was a low reward high risk and no one wanted to fight him.
Point being, Floyd turned on this whole "bad guy" image. No one knew he had it in him 'til he started. He sure wasnt acting like that with Arum.
Not saying Ward has to go that route, but you never know what someone has in their bag of tricks.Last edited by KevinHenry007; 08-05-2014, 01:04 PM.Comment
