I had never seen a fighter do that (hold his head high, to give the impression of a headbutt), but I didn't like it. What pissed me off the most was that he would pretend like he was the victim, leaving his mouth open to indicate disbelief. Maybe I am being harsh, but I never want to see this guy fight again. I was rooting for him after the Thurman fight, but I think his tactics weren't just dirty but devoid of honor. As far as the bolded, I'm glad you pointed that out because it's a tactic used by old time fighters. To keep your chin straight in the air to show or exaggerate that the opponent is using his head. Chaves was clearly doing that and I noticed it as well.
The funny part was in the end when Chaves looked like "What did I do"..hahaha he knew what he did but Draculich could have controlled this fight much better than what he did.
Either way, I thought Rios looked terrible.Comment

He clearly stepped on his foot causing the knock down.Caparello popped Kovalev with a CLEAN A$$ SHOT to the side of the noggin, LMfAO@ calling it a trip. Sure.
Anyways, being the bum that we all knew he was, Caparello couldn't do **** after he landed that nice shot on the side of Kovalev's dome piece.
I predicted Kovalev by KO/TKO in the 3rd round, it just happened a bit sooner, and good thing it did. It's not a good look being dropped by bums like Stevenson and Kovalev have been, in their last performances.
Well I wouldn't go that far, but he did act innocent when he clearly was doing his part. All in all hugely disappointing fight considering the styles of the tww fighters.I had never seen a fighter do that (hold his head high, to give the impression of a headbutt), but I didn't like it. I had Vargas winning by a point, horrible scorecards though. Thomas Williams Jr let me down big time. I had high hopes for him. I think he's gonna bounce back stronger though. He'll learn from this i'm sure, he just had a Victor Ortiz moment.Last edited by BOXEO _; 08-04-2014, 11:44 AM.Comment

I agree with you assessment that Rios is "done as an elite fighter." To be honest, I don't know where Rios goes from here in his career. He's fun to watch, has a good inside game but his defense sucks and he fights with reckless abandonment. He just takes so many clean shots to the head, it bothers me to know that he's gonna probably end up brain damaged. You just can't sustain that kind of punishment in every fight.Comment

Very worrisome no doubt. He was never a great defensive fighter before, but he moved his head much more in the past. Like I said too, he looked out of shape, really soft in the midsection.I agree with you assessment that Rios is "done as an elite fighter." Couldn't agree more on the Rios assessment. I'm a big Rios fan, but what positive can you say about him after Saturday? Out of shape, slow, sloppy as hell; looked nothing like the guy who fought Antillion and Alvarado. Chaves was in there to spoil, but Rios answered with a lot of dirty tactics of his own.
It's disappointing as a Rios fans because how many time have we seen guys enter a lazy chapter of their career after getting a big payday off a loss. Brandon didn't even get in shape for this.Comment

I disagree with Kovalev looking for one big shot all the time.
he actually does the opposite of that. He doesn't load up on any of his punches and look for one big KO. He just hits so damn hard his opponents can't do anything about it.
he throws fluid combos and never loads up on any single shotComment

Well you may be right or may not be because we haven't seen him in a boxing match with someone who can make him work.I disagree with Kovalev looking for one big shot all the time.

If you watch Kovalev he stalks his opponents and is looking for one big shot. Now, he leaps in a little and reaches at times which I think B Hop can and will take advantage of.
The question will be can B Hop avoid getting hit with a huge shot all night long, I don't know.Comment
