Here's something to consider. Most of Kovalev's fights have only lasted 2 or 3 rounds because of his mean streak. I looked at his records, he's only fought 72 rounds in his career to Hopkins 494. HUGE edge to Hopkins. In fact, the deepest he's ever been in is 8 rounds, once. I wonder how his conditioning is. And seeing how Hopkins has never been KOed, I don't expect him being KOed in the early rounds. He might get knocked down sure, but he's going to stay in the fight.
I think Kovalev's best bet is to really jump on Hopkins and try to get him out early, at the very least win early rounds based on shear activity and volume punching. I think this fight is a question of can Hopkins survive the early rounds, and if he does, can Kovalev survive the deep waters and will he have 12 round conditioning.
I also read that one of Kovalev's victims actually died after getting KOed. A true testament to Kovalev's brute like power. A big step up in competition for Kovalev, and a very dangerous fight for Hopkins.

Anybody know kovalev's ring walk music? He plays it every time he comes to ring but I can't find the name of the song anywhere. Thanks

There is a lot being said about Kovalev's lack of experience going the distance or even going deep into a fight. And there sure are legitimate question marks as far as his stamina is concerned. With that said. I personally don't believe it will be any problem, and why? Because its not as if Kovalev fights like Wilder. From what I have seen Kovalev seems to be a pretty patient fighter and doesn't go winging and wasting a lot of power shots. And with that incredible power that he has I don't see Bhop opening himself up by putting a lot of pressure on him. I also hope the fight is in AC so I can go see it, and I also believe Bhop won't get away with as many of his fouls in AC as compared to Vegas.

Dan Rafael few examples of poor journalism.
March 26 | ESPN.com
TITLE: Plenty of blame to pass around
Since Stevenson never really seemed to embrace the idea of fighting Kovalev in his interviews -- always adding the caveat of "if the money is right," something Kovalev never uttered -- it sure seems like a duck.

TITLE: Duva foresaw Stevenson's struggles
Duva watched with interest because she promotes light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev, whom many believe Stevenson straight ducked

TITLE: Dan Rafael's top 20 P4P fighters
17. Adonis Stevenson (24-1, 20 KOs): The light heavyweight champ is a brutal puncher who made his name with a first-round one-punch knockout of Chad Dawson to WIN the title 13 months ago. He's made three defenses against solid opposition in former titlist Tavoris Cloud, Toney Bellew and Andrzej Fonfara, even though that was a struggle. Points off for a blatant duck of titleholder Sergey Kovalev

*The broadcaster removed the part when Dan Rafael says the term: (which was a clear duck)...
------------------------------------
In May 2014, Dan Rafael received "The Nat Fleischer Award" at the 89th BWAA Awards Dinner. Which shows how great he is to cover the sport of boxing.
But by constantly using the expression (DUCK), Dan Rafael shows how unprofessional he became with his subjective story-telling journalism, which purposely affect the judgement of the public.
And consequently, made Adonis Stevenson loses his spot for the reward he earn in 2013, the "Sugar Ray Robinson Award" for boxer of the year.
*I wonder how no one noticed Dan Rafael's lack of ethic and professional conduct, except the ESPN boxing news editor who withdrew the term "DUCK" from the online video clips where Dan Rafael shows once again, a biased coverage with his personal opinions.
On the other side, I dont understand why HBO could be upset about Adonis Stevenson when he moved network to Showtime. Because, first of all HBO didn't sign him under a long term deal, and didn't match the amount showtime offered Stevenson for his fight against Fonfara.
In boxing at 36, there's no time to waste.
Instead of paying Stevenson & Kovalev fairly, it seems like HBO were playing with both parties. Waiting to give a long term contract to the winner of this expected bout, rather than paying and signing both opponent under a long term deal.
So when Stevenson moved to Showtime, HBO had no choice to do what they were supposed to do since the beginning, by finally settle down a long term agreement with Kovalev. So whether team Kovalev like it or not, it's through Stevenson if Sergey won his spot at HBO. They shouldn't blame him with that phony lawsuit, that (Main Events) would've lost anyway.
But about Dan Rafael, I wonder why he derided Stevenson image at any giving time. We know ESPN belongs to Disney and HBO belongs to Warner, therefore there would be no point in Dan Rafael's work to be altered by HBO's interests. Except that there is indeed an association since 2012 between these two media when it comes about boxing.
Is it possible that this factor may be involved in the way Dan Rafael derides Stevenson? And if that's the case, he should be hired directly by HBO, at least he would have his pay directly from them.
We know he often mentions the term (Duck), but check this out; does he say it for boxers on Showtime and boxers from HBO.
Observe closely, it's ridiculous how his favoritism is obvious, but even solid appearance might be confusing.
Observe well, for someone looking for recognition by the medias, it's hard to accept how an invisible person like Al Haymon can be acknowledge more than him; jealousy may develop. Dan Rafael doesn't like the growing drive Al Haymon has those last years over the world of boxing. So by using multiple medias to extend his standpoint, like an alter ego, Dan Rafael internalizes most of Al Haymon boxers, believing it can help him become the most influential journalist in boxing.
What I'm saying is that the only boxers Dan Rafael treats of (Duck) are those of team Al Haymon. HBO could have been involved, there's few facts; but it seems that these attacks are personal.
*It's a shame for sport journalism, with no warning it will become worst.Last edited by TheThirdEye; 10-20-2014, 06:29 PM.
