Yes I agree Kovalev is strong and is good at coming forward, but that's it! B-Hop has so many dimensions to his game.
This Russian is KO-ing nobodys and hasn't shown the ability to overcome serious adversity or fight backing up, i.e. setting traps off the back foot.
He also doesn't move his head and has defensive liabilities.
I can see Kov taking a lot of damage to the head from a good boxer. Marcos Maidana is a prime example of a boxer who can be a brawler, yet still move his head, have defense, fight backing up, and overcome serious adversity.
Maidana is better than Kovalev. Fighting bums doesn't prove anything.

If Hopkins can make it through 12-rounds without being hurt, I think that will be a kind of victory. Kovalev is one of the hardest punchers that division has seen and Hagler is 50 years old. He can then claim he was robbed when they give Kovalev a decision.
No way Hopkins KOs Kovalev. Hopkins hasn't KOed anyone since 2004. He can possibly frustrate him and not allow him to land effectively. I don't see Kovalev freezing up and not throwing ala Pavlik. Although, Hopkins has had that effect on Tarver, Trinidad and Roy Jones in the second fight. I still don't see Kovalev not letting his hands go. Hopkins is hard to hit with a clean, effective punch, but if Kovalev lands anything that is half clean, he'll hurt Hopkins.
