Manny was good in 2001 no doubt, but no one gave a sht back then. It wasn't until 08 that the media hype went crazy, suddenly there was a guy "capable" of beating Floyd. Sadly Manny Pacquiao could not keep the pace, hence why nowadays he is fighting the brandon rios and chris algieri's of the world. His "run" actually started in 2001 when he dismantled Ledwaba on two weeks notice. In between that win and his controversial split decision loss to Bradley he lost just once to Erik Morales, whose pretty f'n good himself. Lacks consistency?
Pacquiao will most likely go down as the best fighter in his generation, regardless of what his haters think.
I'm curious was Julio Cesar Chavez still "great" when he fought Kostya Tszyu? I mean by your definition "great fighters" are ALWAYS great right?
Floyd on the other hand, he was on before Manny and he is still on after Manny. It's been 18 years of pure consintency.Comment

People like you probably didn't give a sh%t, but I can assure you boxing fans took notice when he burst on the scene in 01. His popularity was already established long before the Diaz fight. By then he's fought Morales 3 times, MAB, and JMM.Manny was good in 2001 no doubt, but no one gave a sht back then. Why wouldn't any rationale boxing fan think Pacquiao is capable of beating Floyd? Is Floyd supposed to be unbeatable? If that were the case then you'd see Margarito, Pacquiao, and a host of other names on his resume.
Floyd's PPV appeal was as much as Pacquiao's if not less before his DLH scrap. I wouldn't doubt that it was probably more stale considering how people were booing his ass in the Baldomir fight. You either have a serious misconception of what the word consistency is or are just trolling. Judging by the manner to which you brought Floyd's name into a Pacquiao thread you're probably both.Comment

I hope he does, and hopefully the Mayweather fight finally happens even if they're both not prime anymore.
Whether that fight happens or not, I hope Pacman does retire in 2016. He's had such a long and great career, and he still has a few good fights left in him. I just hate seeing legends hang on for too long and allow inferior, but younger boxers make a name off of them.Comment
