It's not worth risking losing 3 straight fights...

Because win or lose his career is over. Going out with a win doesn't mean **** compared to taking a chance and going out as LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION against the guy that destroyed Roy Jones Jr.
I'd rather face the best and have a couple losses then fight mediocre-good opponents and have a perfect record. I totally respect Hopkins for taking on a young, hungry Taylor when he could of taken on the Joppys' of this world and exited with a couple wins.

your priorities are out of wack. Me, I'd ALWAYS take the risk to bring me glory. Let me give you a quick example: why would ANY fighter on the ****ing planet duck Mayweather? If you win, you knock off the best guy in the sport! REWARD overpowers risk
Ask Hatton about ducking Floyd or Freitas or Casamayor...
Tarver will NOT make or break Hopkin's legacy. Retiring with a win is the way to end his career. And a solid win too versus possibly getting KTFO by a bum named Tarver.

Bad matchup for The Executioner stylewise.
Hopkins is much the better fighter, but Sturm can make him look bad and perhaps steal the fight on points.
Felixs' strength is drawing the other boxer into a lead, and then countering and angling off on him.
That is a portion of Hopkins' style as well, and he is the best at it.
I don't think this would be a good fight for us fans, really.
It may turn out to be a great fight, who knows?
