Once he starts destroying some of the so called big names in the middleweight division and that's if they'll get in the ring with him, his ratings will climb. Even though he's already beaten 3 guys ranked in the top ten middleweights. I don't know how anyone could say that he's all hype and anyone that doesn't want to watch him doesn't know boxing, I watched him Fight in late 2010 for the first time he was 19 or 20-0 he fought against a Colombian guy tapia and after watching him fight I was hooked. all he's done is beat everyone that would get in the ring with him and I can't remember a guy that has not only won every fight, he's won by completely annihilating everyone in front of him. Most great fighters have quite a few tuff fights and 5 or 6 close split decisions or unanimous decisions during their rise to the top, this guy has knocked out almost everyone he's faced, regardless of how good people think his opponents have been they're still professional boxers, it's the way that he's doing it that makes me think he's the real deal, and because the level of power he has for his weight class is a boxing ability that you can't teach no matter how many core workouts you do and weights you lift you can't teach that kind of power. Also anything he may be lacking, they are things that can be improved. I don't see anyone staying in the ring with him for 12 rounds and taking his punishment, the only way I see him losing is if somebody he fights has great power and knocks him out early. Just my opinion.

    • Geale is a good solid boxer, but unknown to main-stream fans, especially in the US, and definitely not the kind of guy who makes you want to tune in and watch him fight after seeing him in an interview.
Curtis Stevens growled, scowled, made a video of a mock funeral with GGG's name on the tomb-stone, and swore he was going to take his head off head off when they fought. Geale just stared into the camera and muttered stuff like, "This fight is gonna go the distance, Believe me, it's gonna go to a decision ..." etc.
With GGG smiling happily and saying polite things in that quaint accent of his, there was nothing in the pre-fight ads to grab the attention of casual fans and get them interested.

Hey good points. Geale was probably the better opponent between himself and Stevens but he certainly did not sell that fight. And neither did golovkin.

Rosado and Macklin both did better than this, though. Why would so fewer people tune in for Golovkin/Geale than Rosado and Macklin?

This year in general has been down. PPV numbers and TV ratings both. Even the good fights, of which there have been few. Froch/Groves is probably the only "superfight" that performed to expectations this year.

              • GGG needs to fight a name. an all star level name. hbo has cooked this duck long enough. its time for the consumption. people are done buying his appetizer fights. that's why his ratings took a step back. too much crap to do in this world all forms of media and entertainment options. you cant string along mainstream fans.

its time for a Cotto Canelo level fight for GGG. He's way past fight gate keepers now. time to begin your reign.

                • After all that talk about putting this kid on PPV...LOL

What a waste. He's not a star and never will be. Americans like flash, they like substance, they like humility, and most of all they like compelling matchups. GGG refuses to engage himself in either of those categories. He has no people here in the US and he'll learn that the hard way.

That doesnt bode well for Maywether vs shut out by Alexander Maidana rematch lol. But GGG has plenty of humility, and there may be substance there. Theres plenty of other sports to follow, you know

Really? Because the PPV numbers and the demand for the rematch say otherwise.
