Jr Witter. Let's see. Floyd beat Baldomir. Baldomir beat Judah. Judah beat Spinks. Spinks beat Mayorga. Mayorga beat Forrest. Forrest beat Mosley. Mosley beat DLH. I'm having trouble finding a former jr welterweight paper champion in that lineage. Help me out.

There is no reason Cotto cant fight GGG in the fight after his next fight. And if Canelo is not a middleweight by then and he has indicated he is not, and Floyd is tied up or retired, that does not leave a bunch of options. Fact is, Trout was not as big of a name as GGG so this "majors" talk is a smokescreen.

If GGG is such a monster why is he trying to take on a fighter who we all know is even considered small for a 154 lb fighter.

If we love the catchweight so much let GGG fight SOG, or Quillen, or honestly why isn't the huge Chavez Jr not fighting him a 160-168?

We've gotten so use to Cotto fighting any and everyone that we are putting him up against guys he shouldn't even be fighting...enough.
Because Cotto is now the MW Champ, duh?!? GGG is not calling out the JMW champion but a fellow champion in his own division. Wow!

Oh OK. So now you have to beat a 160lb'r. I get confused. Y'alls double standards are hard to keep up with.

Yes, it makes him a fraud MW champion if he's going to duck legitimate MW competition to fight Welterweights and Junior Middleweights for the Middleweight title. Cotto's a great fighter. He's earned the right to hand-pick his opponent, just as he'll definitely earn the criticism he'll get for posing as the real MW champ of the world by not fighting MWs.

BTW, when did the lineal title become so important? Floyd was, and is still criticized for fighting Baldomir, who was the reigning lineal champion. During Roy Jones's run at light heavyweight, Darius Mickelschski was the lineal champion. And I believe he was beaten by Gonzolaz (a RJ victim), who was beaten Zsolt Eredi, who to my knowledge never officially lost the title. Tarver, Hopkins, or Calzage (the lineage of the title Tarver took from RJ) fighting Eredi was never a must fight. The lineal title is cool. But, it doesn't always represent the class of the division.
thats exactly the problem a 154lbs defending his title vs other 154 lbs...
if the title is not that important then just vacate and keep fighting guys on whatever division you want...
