No he doesn't beat everyone from 154... he massacres them in style and smiles and gives cringey interviews about it after.

They dont know **** about boxing

World championships are won in the ring, not message boards

He is the class of a fairly weak division but he has to earn the distinction of being the man like everybody else.

For all the politics in boxing, their is one thing that will never change...you have to beat the champion, to be the champion. You gotta earn it.

        Catchweight for that fight.

GGG on PPV would be the start of something good.

          What's cringey about his interviews?

I think he has the best post-fight interviews in boxing.

JMW is strong in the Americas...
MW is strong outside the Americas.
            ... hence the difference...

Dude I hold true to the word that the man who beats the man is the champ.

But there are some cases when that's not true. Remember when Mike Tyson was undisputed champ going up against Spinks? Most people recognized Tyson as the true champ. Liston before Patterson as well.

Or when Briggs "beat" Foreman in '97, but Holyfield had the two belts and Lewis had the one. Nobody considered Briggs as the true champ, they considered Holyfield to be that.

And in this case, when GGG is avoided like the plague by most of the guys at MW, and a 154 lber is beating the crippled version of 'the champ', I think he's rightly known as the MW champ - especially considering that Cotto will probably not make a career at MW.

no matter how you slice it, you have to beat the champion to be the champion, not look good against everyone else. You contradicted yourself.

You cant change history to your liking. Unless he beats Cotto or Cotto vacates, he will remain the champion

                you cant dispute facts

Liston and Tyson went on and earned the title.

GGG has to do the same you cant get no title based off reputation

People that dont know **** about boxing considered Holyfield the champion. A win over Tyson did not make him champion...Tyson beat Bruce Seldon and Frank Bruno who were not the champ.

Bigs got a dec. over the man that beat the man. Lewis Later cleared all that up by beating both Holyfield and Briggs.

Regardless of what you may prefer you cant dispute facts.

Thats like me saying Thurman is the welterweight champion because he "looks" the most dangerous. Mayweather is the champion, cant dispute that, he beat the man.

I may prefer Kovalev, it still dont change that Adonis Stevenson is the champion until he loses.

154 by a landslide. 154 has a lot more talent and a lot more makeable fights. I don't see Cotto taking on GGG in his next couple of fights. He'll take on Canelo and then Floyd if he beats Canelo (speculation of course). The only big money fight out there for GGG is Canelo as well. Can't deny the guys fan base.

How the hell have I contradicted myself when I say that I do believe in the man who beat the man, but I say there are exceptions - as in the examples I gave you like Briggs, Tyson and Liston.

Holyfield was considered champ in '97 - so basically what you're saying is that lineage always mean the true champ. It's not so my friend, i'm sorry to break it too you, but it's not that black and white.

And no it's not at all the same as the the two cases you put forward. Not at all. It's not about liking someone - it's about a genuine title holder who's being avoided whilst fighting the rest of the group.

I haven't seen Thurman fight all the other contenders whilst Mayweather doesn't fight. This is a lot more like Froch/Ward than it is anything else. But still different.

Not at all the same again, and Matthysse didn't beat "everyone else besides the true champion" That's just insane. He beat the other title holder, but there was an active true champion in Garcia who had beaten Khan to take the ring belt.

Cotto beat a dirty old Martinez, and will probably go down to 154. I guess GGG will never make champ at 160 in your opinion.
