Comments Thread For: The Unfortunate Unlucky Streak of Mr. Fury

By Cliff Rold - He keeps signing on the dotted line.

Opponents keep failing to reach the starting line.

Heavyweight hopeful Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KO) got the bad news earlier this week that a rematch with former title challenger Derek Chisora was off due to a Chisora training injury. It was the second major cancellation for Fury in the last year. A clash with David Haye died on the vine twice, also due to injury.

For all the steps forward Fury has taken in his career, these have been some tough steps back. Since a sensational battle with former Cruiserweight titlist Steve Cunningham in April 2013, Fury has fought only once. At least there was a replacement in time for Saturday. Alaexander Ustinov (29-1, 21 KO) will step in for Chisora.

Ustinov beat a long faded version of David Tua in his last outing. Two fights prior, he was soundly defeated by leading contender Kubrat Pulev. On short notice, Fury will be expected to win this weekend but, with him, there is always the chance he might not. [Click Here To Read More]

This guy is obviously in Arums pocket based on his comments of Rigondeax and Shiming. Rigo sucks but he will for sure get a good contract with a real promoter rather than a quick money grubber. That Shiming guy...c'mon. He's going nowhere except China where he will fatten up a Ricky Hatton style record before feasting on a few over the hill guys then get eaten alive by a real top 20 contender sometime around 2017. Arum will be much richer....and finally much deader. Boxing still has hope.

      Good article.
Fury is 25 yo with 22 fights. I rate him highly as a prospect, but you never know for sure if a prospect is going to turn out to be as good as you think he is till he actually proves it, and that takes time.
I'll be watching him fight Ustinov with a lot of confidence that he will WIN, but with my heart in my mouth in case he starts showboating or trying to prove how tough he is by slugging it out and ends up being whacked on the chin by a 22st giant with 21 ko wins on his record.

Do you really think Rigo will make more money than Zou?
Zou doesn't need to leave China that is the simple fact USA isn't the be all and end all, Macau China is vastly becoming a big event to compete in.

Shiming may be old but he is around the same age as Rigo and both are young in boxing years but Shimings fan base is more than twice the size of Rigos for you to even suggest Rigo would get a big fat paycheck... based on what?

Get real the interest is not there he didn't even bother his lazy ass to learn ****ing English in a country where English prominently spoken I'll give Mike Perez the compliment he genuinely deserves attention he is a hard working Cuban who is exciting to watch and wanted to fit into his surroundings and get to know the fans following the sport going to his events.

Author said it perfectly "He just hasn't been caught right yet". Wish Wilder could have stepped in when Chisora pulled out. It's ok though, eventually Fury gonna have to fight someone decent. He's gonna go night night when he does

Zhou will have his career silver spoon fed to him. As long as he draws a solid crowd to Macau he will never be put in with a risky fighter and as long as he's making 6 figures Zhou's never going to complain.

Ha, ha! The same thing can be said for Deontay "chicken legs" Wilder.

3 big fights cancelled for fury & all 3 would of been the biggest payday of his career. he has had a real string of bad luck. Ustinov is ok but he is sooooooo slow & I don't think he will give fury much problems.
