What are you talking about? Someone just posted an ESPN article showing that GOLOVKIN said he'll fight anyone from 154-168.

GGG and needs to keep their mouth shut about guys from 154-168 if they are only fighting at 160.

it's the best move for his career right now. once the ratings for the geale fight come in a lot of options at middleweight will open for golovkin and he'll have a chance at finally unifying the division. to move up at the moment would be a waste of an opportunity. middleweight is the more historically significant and lucrative division than super middleweight, so it's always preferable to campaign there if you can make weight.

I can't stress this enough: Why would GGG move up when he has a titleholder with no network barrier, and a lineal champ with no network barrier that he can fight and unify against?


From the very beginning.... Golovkin and his team made it clear he wants to be THE man at 160. And thats the way it should be.


Anybody bringing up Ward at any point is a clear hater who just wants Golovkin to lose. Ward is in a lawsuit with his promoter right now. He is not in a position to fight. On top of that..... even if he COULD fight, why would Golovkin avoid a unification bout in his own division to fight the absolute #1 guy in a higher division he has never fought in before? Even if he moves up to 168 after unifying, it'll more likely be JCC Jr first before Ward


As for the 154-168 "ill fight anyone thing" -

GGG translator here: Back when he made those statements, people have to realize who the champions of the 160lb division were. Quillin, Martinez, Sturm-Geale....... NONE of those guys wanted to unify with him at the time. Golovkin had no big options at 160. For any semi-big fight at that time, he would of had to either move up or down.

NOW theres two champions in his divison who actually expressed willingness to fight him. Soliman wants to unify with GGG (Geale or Sturm did not want to before) and the lineal champ Cotto is keeping quiet and fought last on HBO so that fight is also possible. Big difference from when Martinez' team was asking "Golovkin who?" He has options at 160 now.

Oh and I don't see people making threads for Ward to move up and fight Kovalev instead of sitting around doing nothing... because he also made a "ill fight anyone at 175 comment"

He's fighting a Top 5 fighter in his division this Saturday. Lets see what happens Saturday first, then we'll see who he fights next.


I think Geale beats any MW not named Golovkin.... he would be a good win. it's quite possible that he doesn't want to talk too much about a potential next opponent because he has a tough fight ahead of him first and foremost

Im not knocking him for fighting Geale. We'll see what happens. But you cant say it's a good win solely on a speculation that he beats anyone else besides Golovkin. Which is also false cause he lost his last fight. It was close but he lost. Geale would be a good win for Golovkin and a step up but nothing to brag about.

GGG resume a little suspect for someone who has been a pro for over 10 years... him & Miguel Cotto the same age.. him and Ward were in the Olympics the same year.. both their resumes are not even compareable.. I think the real issue is the lack of his competition.. no matter what weight he is fighting at.

Golovkin vs Ward would be a very hard fight to make at this point, even if a promoter came forward and said he would make it a PPV event.

Ward is used to calling the shots, but Golovkin and Team are riding a wave right now of popularity, and with that popularity will come arrogance. They will want to call the shots.

I will come out and say this fight will not happen, until one of them loses to someone else first. It is how the boxing world rolls now.

GGG hardly has a resume. He's been in America for less then 2 years and beat a top 10 fighter and is fighting a top 5 fighter now. In his second to last fight... there was no one to fight and he fought a power puncher who beat every opponent he fought at MW.


Before all that he was stuck in Germany with a legal dispute with criminals (who were his promoters)


He needs to be given a chance. People calling for Ward just want him to lose. He burst onto the scene and is progressing at a normal pace. How many other fighters out there right now are fighting top 5 fighters in their division? Garcia is fighting an unranked LW.


Canelo didn't even fight a full time boxer til like his 40th fight. Wilder fought 35 starbucks baristas and is getting a title shot...... Golovkin has been in America for less then 2 years, is fighting a top 5 fighter in his division.... Could potentially be fighting in a unification bout in his next fight... everybody calm down lol
