No it doesn't prove it. Mayweather and Cotto had become household names with huge fanbases. It was always going to do well on PPV. If Mike Tyson came back, it would do great on PPV - doesn't make it a good idea.

The vast majority of hardcore fans thought it was a poor match-up that was years too late.

In 2008, when it had masses of heat? Floyd was on vacation.

          Still, good fight.

Pacquiao has about 15 better ones.

          Yeah, I said it.

Easy for you to say. You aint the one getting punched with gloves with no padding, with all these fighters dyin'. You dont pay no bills for these fighters, when it's all set and done, you gon' move on to the next one.

It was a decent fight, not a classic.

Now srl/hearns, that was a classic...

according to who? and who are these hardcore boxing fans that you're talking about? i surely hope you're not talking about nsb, lmao. all of my folks/friends follow boxing hard and they were looking forward to this fight going in. i know the bar is raised to crazy heights when talking about floyd but a fight against cotto is a good scrap for anyone at 147-154, including floyd. cotto was past his prime(so is floyd) but he wasn't shot to **** like everyone wants to believe.

In 2008 it was the biggest fight in boxing

It just wasnt the same in 2012. For me, it was a let down. Every round that went by just made me mad that we got the watered down version of the fight instead of the classic we could have gotten when they both were prime.
