I think Chris Byrd is slightly overrated on this forum.

He wasn't that good imo. He's up there with Wlad's best wins, but when I look at it in a little more depth, I'm not sure he makes my top 3.

From Wlad's perspective: Most important: Lamon Brewster rematch. Just like for Cotto, beating Margarito in the rematch was probably the most important fight of his career, also the most satisfying to his career.

Actual best win on paper, it has to be Chris Byrd. Byrd has wins over Holyfield, Tua, Vitali, Purrity(lol) and McCline.

While Haye is a multi weight champion, there's no wins in his resume of the caliber of Holyfield, Tua or Vitali, no matter the age of the fighters or circumstances of the wins (Vitali, injury). The closest thing to a good fighter on Haye's resume is an old John Ruiz. Chisora is an okay fighter.

Never, and I have followed Wlad since he first came on the world scene AS AN AMATEUR, have I seen anyone give the other guy as much a chance to win as they gave Haye.

It was clearly his biggest fight, I think we can all agree on that, and would Haye beat the likes of Byrd, Povetkin, Chagaev, Ibragimov? In my opinion he probably would.

There was never so much hype about a Wlad fight as against Haye, it generated world wide interest for years before it happened.

So I would say from a fans perspective, the Haye fight was definitely his biggest win. That's undisputable, in terms of size of the event. Best fighter? I would probably go with Haye again, closely followed by Byrd in 2000 and Sam Peter in 2005.

Just to add, I think Sam Peter of 2005 was the biggest turning point of his career, and probably for him personally, the most significant fight.

But I think the Haye fight gave him most satisfaction.
500 Million viewers worldwide for that fight for a reason.

definitely chris byrd. not only was byrd a quality opponent, but it was the beginning of wlad's ATG reign and he avenged his brother's loss.

Haye easily, then Byrd or Povetkin probably.

                    David Haye.

Chris Byrd was important only from a title fight record point of view.

Other than that, Byrd was a guaranteed win opponent for WK of little relevance.

Peter was the most important one, as it was make it or break it for Wlad. He showed the heart in that one.

As for the best one, I'll probably take Byrd (the second fight). He looked amazing in that one.

Apart from these two he has many great wins : Haye, Povetkin, Ibragimov, Chagaev, TT (1st), Mercer, Brewster...
