I've always admired Serg, and at one time calculated him as occupying one of the top 3 spots in P4P rankings (along side PAC and Floyd), but something happened to him after that 12th round vs jr. He just didn't know what he was up against vs cotto and is probably retiring earlier than he originally hoped. That said, hope he takes a farewell in Argentina against a non-lethal like Anthony mundine or someone.

He'll always be one of my favorites and though I don't want to see him beat up like that again and wouldnt mind if he retired, Id like to see him go out on his shield with a good win. Maybe even against GGG. Now in before People start saying he'd get murdered a guy can dream can't he?

Where they going to K-Mart as a greeter?
Vegas as a greeter no one knows who he is!
My guess would be spaghetti westerns in Spain or Argentina, not bad!
If he takes on any of the top fifteen guys he gets squashed, legs are gone.

No reason to continue his career after the beating he took with those bum knees. Very dissapointed with these news. He's a 39 year old looking to erase the image people have of him from his last fight. True boxing fans will remember him as the legit middleweight king and not the shot Sergio that fought Cotto. It's either a pride thing or a money issue although Sergio has been on record saying if he keeps boxing it won't because he has no other options post-retirement.
Coming of 2 knee surgeries for a boxer at 39 years old is no joke. The injuries he suffered in the 12th round with Chavez was the beginning of the end for him. Maravilla has guts ill give him that. One thing is for sure, even with Sergio returning to fight we won't see the true Maravilla that ruled the MW division 2008-2012.
