Ortiz, being 37 years old, moves incredibly well, he has amazing technique, is very very slick considering his size.

Fury ,almost surely, wouldn't dare switching ot southpaw more than a couple of minutes against Ortiz, he would get badly outboxed. Fighting orthodox, he would have to keep him at bay with jabs that wouldn't (fully) land. I can hardly imagine Fury hitting Ortiz with straight shots, he would have to lean forwards to land on him.

Ortiz, with his crazy 213cm reach, slickness and amazing Cuban technique, would give Fury headaches fighting in an ambush style. And at least, he is in shape contrary to Solis...

I would even say that Ortiz would have to make less adjusments against Fury than Klitschko.

Klitschko, at a certain point of this fight, will have to bring the energy he brought against Pulev, Wach and Haye. He'll have to stay very alert and literally go to war with Fury. He can definitely do it but he has a lot of adjustments to do.

Amazing technique? I haven't seen any of that. Also, I have only seen him beat up guys who's lost 5 on the bounce, cruiser weights or bums who've lost to other bums.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Fury would make him look like an absolute amateur, crack open his face and retire him in 8 rounds.

Cunningham caught him because Fury was messing around in the ring with his hands down, shouting at him. Fury had no respect for Cunningham and he paid the price with a knockdown.

Cunningham has a better punch than Povatkin. Povatkin fights a lot like his Eastern European fellow countrymen, a style I would characterize as somewhat mobile, an emphasis on activity, with very little head movement... yes Povatkin can **** a little better than most of these other fellows, BUT Cunningham is a puncher and punches a lot harder than Povatkin.

Thats not to say it wouldn't be a decent scrap Fury against Povatkin. But the notion that Povatkin is a big puncher is rubbish... at least compared to Cunningham, who had some of the best chins in boxing on the ropes.

One fellow Fury fan to another: stop making excuses for Fury against Cunningham. Did Fury get up? people are reasoning with a false premise: namely that because Cunningham is a cruiser his punch is not what a heavyweight punchers punch would be. In fact? Holyfield was probably at his most dangerous exclusively as a puncher when he was a criuser and Cunningham is probably one of the hardest punchers in the sport right now.

Want proof? Haye is little bigger and might be one of the few who punches harder.

A decent amount. He's fought everyone from sub-200 pounds to 250+ in Primo Carnera.

The Bear brothers were tall guys with 80+ inch reach.

Louis is outweighed by 40+ pounds in this title defense against 29 year old Abe Simon.

Yeah but.... the thing you need to know about Abe Simon is that.... Abe Simon was rubbish.

I'm not dogging on Louis here, he was a great champion for his era, but the fact of the matter was that his era was composed mostly of light heavyweights and cruisers, and not very good ones at that. It was a totally different landscape. When Louis fought Conn there was something like a thirty pound gap between the two, or to put it more accurately a three division gap. That's like Wlad taking on Kovalev today. As good as Kovalev is that's just a monstrous size disparity.

Max Baer would have been a cruiserweight today.

povetkin isnt a monster one punch guy but he hits much harder than cunningham. I dont think its even close. cunningham may have more savvy but he certainly isnt a big puncher at all even as a cruiserweight let alone heavyweight. I agree that povetkin is hittable tho,,,espescially with the jab

One Fury fan to another: stop trying to convince anyone that Cunningham is a big puncher. He wasn't at cruiser and he certainly isn't at heavy. Is he a good fighter? Absolutely. But there's a reason people constantly bring up his knockdown against Fury, and it isn't to big up his punching prowess.

Now there are cruisers who can definitely punch. Kudryashov for one, Makabu for another. Huck nearly knocked out Povetkin and his punching power isn't anything otherworldly in the current cruiserweight division. In fact there are six cruisers whose power would still be a factor at heavy: Kudryashov, Kalenga, Makabu, Chakhiev, Huck (already proven) and Lebedev.

Cunningham never distinguished himself at Cruiser the way these guys did. He was always a skill fighter, something he brought up the heavyweight division. That Fury was knocked down by him is definitely an embarrassment for Fury. That Fury was able to get up and beat his ass is not. That's what was impressive about the performance.

Povetkin's knockout power mainly comes from his explosiveness and pinpoint accuracy, not to mention his punch variety in combination which sees him hitting opponents from different angles at an extremely rapid pace. There are certainly heavier handed guys, but few who can match him for combination punching ability.

Fury wouldn't approach a Povetkin fight with the same mentality he went in with against Steve. Fury would be on his toes behind his jab, Povetkin's face would be a bloody mess by the mid to late rounds.

Absolutely. Fury definitely took Cunningham lightly and nearly paid the price. He was even taunting Cunningham with his hands down at the end of the first, which more or less demonstrates how seriously he was taking the fight. After he got dropped by Cunningham he realised his mistake and went to work, getting the stoppage a few rounds later. It was a very dumb performance however, and one which Fury has so far not replicated (though he came close against Abell).
