If you honestly believe for 1 second that Floyd would have walked away from his guaranteed $32 million, risked a suspension from the Nevada commission, risked Showtime, MGM, and Maidana all suing him for breach, then you are a complete dumbass.

and keep in mind, willful acts by a controlling party (Mayweather Promotions) would void out any event cancellation insurance policies, so Floyd would have to pay everyones damages out of his own pocket

Floyd would've had to fight him, he should've stood his ground and should in September. Legally he's contracted as talent for a press tour, marketing, promotional materials, and the bout itself. Nothing else. It doesn't say maidana promotions on any banners anywhere so walking away would hurt Floyd exclusively. Now let's also stop acting like maidana over the last like 4 years hasn't earned hella good money and could easily retire and live comfortably without the mayweather payday. He's actually managed to have some pretty damned good paydays.

theres no way floyd was serious about canceling the fight, he was calling chinos bluff, they shoulda kept pressing til the last minute and stood firm, floyds mind games won, had he canceled that fight showtime would lose so much money not to mention the backlash and lawsuits from ppl who paid, floyd was not serious and chino shouldve known that

Then Maidana is a dumb ****. I always thought it was Garcia that caved and that Maidana didn't really know what happened after the weigh in.
But if the commission approved those second gloves then Maidana should have held firm and told Floyd "I am walking out first with these approved gloves, if you choose not to show up, that's on you."
They couldn't do anything to Chino. There was nothing in the contract about the gloves. Sponsers and Showtime would have to sue Floyd. And how could Haymon blackball Chino? He was talking about retirement anyway just a few fights ago.
