Yeah possible. Even if he did feel Ward was "too much" he wouldn't be dumb enough to say it. Yeah it comes across as either weight, or he can't be bothered right now.Very Possible. He could have meant even something as simple as "Andre Ward, too much" (to think about right now, I got a fight in a week) For me, not now (lets talk about it later)
We just don't know. but for a guy that says "this is my box", we can assume he leaves stuff out.Comment

He said "Andre Ward is too much for me". I understood it pretty well.
People seemingly have different interpretations of what he meant.
I don't have an agenda . My view is this..... I don't blame them for not wanting to fight Ward. Ward isn't worth it right now. I don't even know if he's allowed to fight. He's not a PPV fighter or a big draw. There are bigger fights out there for GGG.
However, I hope this can finally shut all the annoying GGG fanboys up about how the world is ducking him and he can't get a fight. He and his team make business decisions just like everyone else. His fans need to stop deriding other fighters for doing the same things he is doing.
He's evidently not some fearless beast who'll fight anyone, any time, any weight. His and his teams words prove that.Comment

Idk man, this sounds like a duck to me. He was willing to fight anyone from 154 and up but now he says Ward and the weight is too much.
Sounds like he's back pedaling.Comment

GGG may very well destroy Lara, but the point is, Lara is better than the bums GGG fights and when Lara wanted the fight this dude went and fought another bum. Just fight the guy, win, lose, or draw, fight SOMEONE.
Dont you think this GGG mess has gone on too long? This hype about him, he should have BEEN fought someone. He was chasing Martinez old behind but he could have been fighting top fighters in that time period.Comment

He never was. Hype talk and hopefully now it stops.
We had the same **** with Paul Williams a few years ago.Comment

I cannot picture him ever saying he is wary of Ward. He has had too much success and probably feels invincible. Now his management, the ones who look at risk/reward, may try to steer away from the fight for now if they deem it too risky, and I would not blame them.
Not only would he be going into uncharted waters in weight class he would be very small for, he would be up against possibly the P4P best fighter on the planet. That is a lot to ask and I would not want my fighter, no matter how good, to have to take that risk without testing. I would make sure he has some fights at that weight to make sure he handles it well first, before taking on a top dog in that division.Comment
