Why has Kovalev not fought a puncher?

Because there isn't many punchers at LHW, and the one big puncher, other than himself, ran to another network when the fight was being made.
Kovalev spars cruiserweights and heavyweights, so yeah, I'm sure he's just so terrified of "hard hitting" Fonfara.Comment

That fight could well come down to who lands first. They both have one punch power and look a bit vulnerable at times.I don't think his chin is great, but it's definitely good. Boone can punch, he fought him twice.
I'm pretty sure Stevenson could hurt him bad. Just like Kovalev could hurt Stevenson bad. That fight in my mind comes down to whose power gets the other guy first, and that's hard to predict.
I do think you're reading too much into Agnew. When guys spend 2 and a half minutes of every round not throwing, it will probably freeze their opponent when they do throw just because it's unexpected. I never thought Kovalev looked bothered by anything Agnew landed.
Good point on the latter. Could of made for an interesting fight if Agnew had dared open up a bit. I think he himself could be a decent fighter, he looked pretty well schooled.Comment

Don't most LHWs? Different ballgame when they're wearing 16/18oz pillows and holding back.Comment

I worded that badly I meant Agnew but I also felt Kovalev looked a bit patient too at times after getting checked with a few counter right hooks to remind him he was still there, he seemed a bit reluctant to engage. From what I remember anyway.Comment

sillakh was a good puncher, he just didn't have opportunity to hit kovalev because he was getting his brains beat in.
the truth is, if you have a totally junk chin, you probably won't make it to the top of the 175 division. these guys are strong, man. they can hurt each other. they aren't HW, but they're not all that far from being HW. kovalev probably walks around over 200 lbs, and so would many of his opponents.Comment
