Cotto is on record saying that he never pursued a Mayweather fight during that time. Was he ducking him or no?

You didn't flat out say that Cotto was over the hill, but you have certainly suggested it. Why else would you bring up a 1 year lay off? What difference does it make if he took a year off? You think that he ran away from the division - right or wrong? Were Cotto, Margarito and Pacquiao not with Top Rank? Did Top Rank, Floyd and Goldenboy not have issues?

I remember people saying it was "New Cotto" under his last trainer. The one that helped him beat Zombie Margarito in the rematch.

I don't think Cotto is completely washed up or shot. I do think he hasn't been prime since that 1st Margarito fight. People can't change tune now, everyone said Sergio was going to put a beating on him.

Cotto is past prime but still a good fighter. He's not completely shot or anything.
