It is not too late. Peterson is still fighting. So is Garcia. Khan needs to earn his shot at Mayweather by beating a quality fighter. Alvarez beat Trout before he fought Mayweather. Khan, at least, needs to beat an opponent of this caliber such as Alexander or Thurman. I personally doubt if Khan could beat Berto, but I wouldn't be surprised if Berto is his next fight.

Didn't Maidana directly turn down Thurman too?
Their reason was something like Thurman had too many Knockouts.

Also, to comment on an earlier post, Maidana is better liked and more respected than Khan because he has immeasurable heart and determination. This is not to say that Khan is heartless, just that many fans appropriately feel that Khan never steps up to actually fight the best - Sure Khan talks about fighting the best, but in actuality, he always seem to fight less than ideal opponents.

The general perception is that Khan fights these C-level guys and then thinks he deserves the top spot and thereby should be in a position to fight the top guys.

It is what it is ..... and its undeniable that unanimously fans of the sport believe Khan just hasn't done enough to get a shot at the elite. Add to that perception, the reality that he and his fans seem to come up with all kinds of excuses why potential opponents like Thurman (Who BTW will fight Khan tomorrow) isn't worthy of Khan's time. That's one hell of a conundrum.
Porter ducked Thurman and took the Malignaggi fight. The Brook mandatory situation wasn't a problem then.

Kenny Porter, father and trainer of IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter, says a fight with undefeated banger Keith Thurman is not a probable fight for the im

Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it. How did that whole "wait it out" strategy work last year? Khan (and probably you're ****** as$) thought he had a Mayweather fight on Cinco De Mayo, after getting dropped by Julio Diaz. Not a good look! Anyway. all the excuses you're coming up with for why he should not fight Thurman tells the whole story!

                      Amir only has Garcia problems.

Peterson used PED's to SD Amir with the help of the referee.

                      ****ing laughable really
