I am not comparing those two fights specifically, I agree with what you are saying here, but you missed my point. Specific fights and examples aside, what they are doing and why they are doing it is the same. You can't call the same thing running, then turn around and call it ring gneralship. Either you agree with the school of thought that a fighter should use the ring to their advantage and use pivots and weight distribution to their favor, and attempt to control who sets feet first and who is kept on the move, or you disagree with that methodology and you think fighters should plant the rear foot firm, and commit to slips and rolls on the inside.

Not really. One of the biggest supporters in hitting without getting hit is Mayweather Sr and even he said Lara ran. I think Lara did show ring generalship, he was controlling the pace of the fight with his movement. That still doesn't change the fact that he ran at times. When he was moving and actually throwing it was awesome, but there were times that i found myself yelling at the screen cause he would move and not throw a punch for like 30 seconds to a minute. That's freakin running.

I didn't intend for it to be compared to mayweather vs maidana.. I kinda thought of Mayweather vs Canelo.. I didn't have that close.. something like 9-3for Mayweahter.. yet Lara (I know it's somewhat different styles) had Canelo desperate, forcing, trying.. somewhat Donaire/Rigo.. I thought it was effective enough, hence the faces after the fight.. I don't have a big problem with Canelo winning since Lara's style is not fan friendly.. I don't have a problem with 115-113.. but that 117-111 doe!.. ha ha!

I for one think mayweahter will go back to his roots of pot shotting and holding.. staying of the ropes and frustrate Maidana in the rematch.

Lara makes you miss, gets out of the way, admires his footwork and fights in spots.

If you miss against Rigo, you end up going home and crying to your mother. He makes you PAY for any mistake you make against him. You pay so bad you second guess any move you make for the rest of the fight.

That's the difference between Rigo/Donaire and Lara/Canelo.

I don't know about that one.. I think it was the same.. only thing I think is that Donaire is not as good as he was hyped up, they just made him to be some kind of ko artist, never saw Donaire "outbox" anyone.. on the other hand.. Canelita has some boxing skills.. i.e. Mayweather, Mosely, and now Lara fights.. with angulo it was him vs a punching bag..

how does floyd suck at trash talking? he owned gatti....he owned odlh.....he owned ricky hatton.....he annihilated mosley and he gave ortiz the business. i'm not saying he's ali or anything but there was some good trash talk in the fight build ups. i'm not saying he's ali or anything but floyd ain't as bad as ya'll say he is.

Floyd needs to sell the fight. We all know a good guy v bad guy sells the best and Maidana doesn't speak English, seems pretty quiet and humble so Floyd has to take the role of the bad guy in this to sell the fight.
