  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Compares Lara's Loss To Trinidad's Win

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - On Saturday night, Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya had a flashback of his 1999 twelve round majority decision loss to Felix Trinidad, which took place at the nearby Mandalay Bay.

During that fight, De La Hoya felt he was well ahead on the scorecards and decided to coast in the championship rounds while Trinidad chased him around the ring and tried land something big. De La Hoya was wrong; the fight was very close and Trinidad secured the victory with his last rally.

      Fights were totally different...

oscar thru alot more punches and totally controlled the first 9 rds, and then got on his bike and ran..

Lara/canelo no one really ever took over except for maybe canelo rds 7-10

      Bad comparison

Alvarez wants a mayweather rematch and lara wanted mayweather should he beat alvarez. Both looked terrible last night.Alva was one dimensional, swinging wild, and leaving himself wide open. And lara moved and did nothing with plenty of opportunities to make alva pay.neither are good enough and don't deserves mayweather.

Its a good comparison for the championship rounds, because that's when DLH let off the gas, but the fights are similar in that I had both DLH and Lara winning, DLH won more clearly, but I disagree with the scorecards of that fight to this very day with confidence, so when I rewatch the Lara fight I doubt my stance will change that much, I may give more rounds to Canelo, but I doubt I change my mind about Lara winning the fight.

Gtfoh you compare lara robbery with your own del la hoe , im guessing this is your justification for Trinidad . And you wouldn't rematch Trinidad so your telling nela to do the same thing since he won i see it's do unto others what was done unto you .

That was the point that DLH was making, he said he only ran for 3 rounds and lost, basically eluding to the fact he feels Lara ran the hole fight.
