    In Lara's Defense

I pretty much agree with the overall consensus that Lara did some good things but not enough to win the fight, Canelo was mostly the one making the fight all night, Lara moved a ton and did more thna move other times, and he somewhat took advantage of the rules moreso then mastering them.'

However, in his defense I will say that I dont think he wanted to fight like that. IDK what it is because Canelo is not a one punch KO artist but I havent seen a guy swing like him since Foreman or Tyson. Just looks like every punch is about to chop you in half. He looks huge in the ring. I never ever watch a fight and say a guy is on the juice (and I in no way think Canelo is either) but he just looks different then everyone else in boxing right now when he's swinging. He looks so much more stronger & powerful.

I argued with people after they said Angulo took a dive. I said No, that fight ended in the first 10 seconds when Canelo through that vicious hook that was a shock to AA's system. He thought he would be the hard hitting bully but that very 1st punch was something he never felt before and it stayed that way. Lara met Caneo in the center of the ring and for the first 10 sec it almost looked like he was going to be the aggresssor but very quickly Canelo was again throwing bolo punches

You could tell it was freakin Lara out a lil bit and it hurt everytime it landed, especially in the body. Some people are on there bike because of pressure but with Canelo its different. He's like a physical machine right now where its shocking guys systems. I think he did what he felt he had to do. He never really dealt with anything like that before. He dint want to fight like that but felt he had no choice and could maybe steal some rounds in the process. Canelo is getting older and more experinced. He's still not super great but he's a handful and those shots hurt or are different from what the oppponent anticipated

Lara could not handle Canelo's punching power and body shots. That is why he ran like crazy. He didn't run because he was deluded enough to think he would win rounds like that. He looked legit terrified of Canelo hitting him.

I can't remember what round it was but there was one punch where I was sure Lara nearly folded in half from a body shot (though the commentators didn't pick up on this).

Canelo, after round 3, also learned from the Mayweather fight that it's not a good idea to try to box with a guy with quicker hands and feet, and adjusted by letting his hands go, even if you miss wildly at times and look ******. It's not comfortable for him - in his heart he's a counter-puncher - and he's so flat footed that he can't cut-off the ring but it was effective. Wait for Lara to take a pit-stop and then let your hands go. The body work was spectacular.

Last night also made me realise Canelo will be better at 160. Less weight cutting will improve his stamina and he won't have to deal with fighters who are quicker than him (though his height will be an issue).

Canelo didn't look great last night but the kid has just fought Trout, Floyd and Lara - 3 fighters it is nearly impossible to look good against.

Mayweather stood in there with Canelo and had no problem with his power.

I do agree that Canelo looks very powerful, but I'm not so sure that he is as powerful as he looks.

Regarding the fight, I've scored it 3 times and had Lara winning each time. He should have been more active to make it clearer, but he was landing all the good/clean shots. Canelo's body work was good, but he was hitting nothing but air most of the fight....ineffective pressure means nothing to me.

i agree with you.lara was not the same after that 4th rnd.he wanted no parts of any contact after that.i think the thing that throws people off is that nelo has slow feet but really fast hands.kid is just 24 and is fighting fights that most dont get until late 20's so i think he is at an absolutely peak physical stage

Difficult position for Canelo he's in a division with a lot of difficult fighters in that are a bad style match up, Molina, Andrade, Charlo Brothers still out there for him to fight.

It's a shame for him there aren't many in his division like Angulo who are a good style match up for him. Kirkland perhaps.

He's done well despite looking bad in beating Trout and Lara, obviously looked spectacular against Angulo. And no shame of course in losing to Floyd.

Lara got hit in the head a grand total of 15 times in 12 rounds and looked like he hadn't even been in a fight except for the cut . All canelo was doing was coming forward chasing and looking ****** except for 3 rounds he was pressuring well with body shots the rest was laughable. Obvious gift decision and if you are out there you know that's the real consensus **** even the experts who people here touted where picking Canelo over Lara had Lara edging it by 2.

Mayweather is very unique. His mental game is so far over everyone and he's so techniqally sound & precise. Its hard for Canelo to throw bolo stuff on him because Floyd stays close and can beat him to the punch not only because of speed but because of how superior he is to everyone in terms of pure boxing. You could see the mind game that was going on where Floyd would anticipate what Canelo was going to do and shoot his shot right on the money before Canelo. It was almost like a pre counter. It was like he was throwing a counter while getting off 1st. He just knew what Canelo wanted to do and was better at it

Oh, from a technical and ability stand-point I agree fully.

I'm talking purely about the power. Canelo threw plenty of body shots at Mayweather, landed a good few and also hit a lot of arms/shoulders and yet despite his huge size advantage, at no point did his strength/power even remotely make an impact.

Canelo looks huge and extremely powerful, but I don't know if he's close to as powerful as he looks.
