I had a small bet on Lara too and wanted him to win.

Probably the most subjective fight I've ever seen. Nearly all of it was a matter of preference of style. Anybody who is outraged is making an emotional appeal rather than a logical interpretation. But I respect and encourage that. Boxing and its fans should be passionate and emotional.

Lara's style is such that he can easily give away close rounds. But there's no explaining 117-111 Canelo. Absurd. I don't think I've even seen that score so far from the biggest Canelo nuthuggers/trolls on this site. That's saying something.

It's not Lara's style that's the problem, it's the fact that he lets rounds get taken away by not throwing punches, I'm sure no boxer plans not to throw punches, I just don't think he has that grit in him but his early Lenard impression was impressive.

Canelo won a close decision.

One thing to note.. if your gonna back peddle like lara did at least throw enough shots to justify it. Im a fan of the sweet science but last night a few rounds just looked like lara was flat out running. For boxing effectively in the pro ranks look no further than Floys Mayweather. The amateur style wont win you rounds in a fight of this magnitude.

I can't account for any bias. I try to be objective is all I can say. And it's not like one of the judges or a slew of non-Cuban fans don't agree with my score.

Maybe it was more accurate to say that Lara's tendencies sometimes lose close rounds for him. Landy is known to be a little too selective in picking his shots. It makes him too inactive...too many pauses. I have to say, though, when Lara unleashed those 1-2s, and even a few three-punch combos late, they snapped off like rifle-fire.
