    7-5 Lara.

People keep talking about canelo's body shots but i saw a lot of them were borderline low blow and hitting Lara's elbows and hips. I preferred the precise and accurate punches to canelo's head.

The first 3 rounds were Lara's time to show he could dominate Canelo and he didn't do it. He looked sharp that first round but Canelo was clearly just feeling him out and getting his timing down. Second round was close but I gave Canelo the slight edge because after he caught Lara with a body shot early Lara didn't throw any more of those jabs that were working for him. Third round was a true toss up, really could have gone either way.
After that though Lara wasn't aggressive until the last two. He had some rounds were he did a good job avoiding shots but he wasn't the one forcing the pace or pressing the action. He thought he was fighting his fight but he was really doing the worst thing he could have done which was giving up the rounds early by backpeddling. I have Canelo winning 8-4 but obviously I am biased as ****.
Just can't fathom the fact that Lara knew coming in he would have to dominate to get a decision and the there was no way he was getting a decision in a close fight. And yet he still chose to pot shot and run and thought that was the best strategy. I think he knew if he stood there and traded, which is what he really needed to do to win, he would have been knocked down at some point and it would have been a lost cause.
Lara fans, all 10 of them on this site, and Canelo haters can cry foul all they want but Lara and his team have no one to blame but themselves for not taking advantage of the biggest opportunity this guy is ever going to get.

I can see it 7-5 either way but Lara, after 3 rounds was in the driving seat and he let it get away from him.

Like I posted a week or two ago on that other thread, this fight might come down to who has more dog in him and I've always believed Canelo is the more rugged fighter.

          114-114 with many close rounds.

          R1: Lara
          R2: Lara
          R3: Canelo
          R4: Canelo
          R5: Canelo
          R6: Lara
          R7: Canelo
          R8: Canelo
          R9: Canelo
          R10: Lara
          R11: Lara
          R12: Lara

I can see a win for Canelo easier than a win for Lara, although 117-111 is obviously bananas. Canelo's thudding bodyshots in the first half of the fight took the game away from Lara. He looked uncomfortable in the second half of the fight and was pot-shotting rather than systematically picking his openings. Canelo didn't tire from the pursuit as many thought he would.

I personally think Lara won rounds 1-3 quite clear;y, why he dropped off in the middle rounds is anyone's guess, he has done the same previously and gotten lucky.
Bodyshots and the cut gave him something to think about, but he got a second wind late. Lara needed to win the 12th round clearly to sway people imo and he didn't.

I had the same scorecard as Op. Rewatched the fight this morning. While i don't think the 117-111 was a good scorecard I think this judge was influenced by the crowd and was judging based on aggressiveness. 9-3 tells me he gave every close round to the aggressor. If I weren't scoring on a 10 pt must i would have scored rd 2 as a 10-10 rd.

I was surprised that Canelo did not gas after the 7th rd. He kept up the pressure and that swayed two of the the judges.
